The Question Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I keep seeing headlines and lnf type freak-outs over this Smollett guy making a false police report.

I also remember a smattering of stories a week or so later about some big shot right winger doing the same.

The Smollett stories are still big news but I've heard nothing more on the rightwinger.

I can't find anything on this, does anyone remember his name?
Doesn't ring a bell. I did post bout this a month ago:

No Jail For Texas Teen Who Lied About Being Raped By 3 Black Men

White girl falsely accuses blacks in North Texas = No jail time.
I guarantee that if Jussie Smollett had committed his alleged (probable) crime in North Texas he would go to prison.
I think it happened in SF.

Damn, I wish I could remember. I wanted the follow up to see if he was prosecuted.

Found these, don't know if any are big enough to be what you're talking about:

I guess this is another example of the "liberal" media. Run for months with a story about a Hollywood liberal but hardly a squeak on an identical story about a rightwinger.

The guy who filed the false police report was one of their big name guys. I don't think it was that himblaw idiot but someone as well known

Ah. Looks like a real winner.
Jacob Wohl

Jacob Wohl (born December 12, 1997) is an American far-right conspiracy theorist, fraudster, and internet troll. He was formerly an online blogger and a columnist for the website The Gateway Pundit.

Wohl drew attention in 2018 after news outlets reported his and Jack Burkman's failed plot to discredit Robert Mueller, the U.S. Special Counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, by attempting to frame him for sexual misconduct. In April 2019, Wohl and Burkman again received media attention for attempting to frame Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana and declared 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, for sexual assault.

Wohl has created and promulgated other false or unfounded claims and conspiracy theories, mainly against Democratic Party politicians such as Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, and Ilhan Omar. On February 26, 2019, Twitter permanently banned Wohl for violating its rules regarding creating and operating fake accounts. To aid his schemes, Wohl created multiple fake private intelligence agencies, and has fabricated death threats and protests against himself....

Wohl is Jewish, describes himself as a Zionist, and has co-hosted a podcast for Jewish Trump supporters with Laura Loomer. As of 2018, Wohl lived in Southern California. His father, David Wohl, is an attorney and conservative commentator who has been a guest on Fox News programs and who has also promoted conspiracy theories.
Possibilities:

Pro-con bias, as you imply.

Wohl’s lack of real accomplishment in life, lying history, and our low expectations of him MAY account for some of the difference in coverage - both because we care less about the original "crime", and because we're less shocked to learn that it's a hoax.

I remember you posting that more than once, don't remember if there was a thread with that title. There was an earlier "Fox News" thread, but it accidentally got deleted by a moderator in 2018.

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/do ... scriminate

The 46-page draft rule from the Labor Department would apply to a range of so-called religious organizations — including corporations, schools, and societies — provided that they claim a “religious purpose.”

"The Trump administration makes clear that a corporation needn’t focus entirely on religion to qualify, saying, “The contractor must be organized for a religious purpose, meaning that it was conceived with a self-identified religious purpose. This need not be the contractor’s only purpose.”

“A religious purpose can be shown by articles of incorporation or other founding documents, but that is not the only type of evidence that can be used,” says the rule, which grants companies many opportunities to claim that faith or morals guide their intent."

So, founding documents stating that the organization's purpose is to follow biblical bullshit, and run the evil sons of Hamm (ham) out of the country forever, are exempt.

Have I got this pretty much right

trump met with the Russians in trump tower to talk about getting dirt on his opponent
He was accused of doing what he did
his people all told him it was bad
so trump denied that he did what he did
Then there was a big long investigation
trump claimed he was found innocent
A few days later he met with the Ukrainians to talk about getting dirt on his opponent
Again his people told him it was bad
So they hid it all in a special secret hidy-place
Again he was accused of doing what he did
Again trump denied that he did what he did
And then he runs right out and calls China to get dirt on his opponent

There may have been other 2016 Trump Tower meetings that we don't know about, but the one that has gotten all of the attention 45SHOLE was supposedly not at.
I don't think that in 2016 "A few days later he met with the Ukrainians to talk about getting dirt on" Hillary. It was 2019 to get imaginary dirt on Biden. Is there something I'm missing?

Woman dubbed 'Swing Set Susan' charged with impersonating officer to chase Hispanic teens off playground

http://flip.it/gybEET

Was she charged with impersonating a cop or a public servant?

Is impersonating a public servant a lower charge?
