Idiot box thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

GRANDPA'S WAR STORY GOES VIRAL

Narrated by Liev Schreiber, GRANDPA’S WAR STORY GOES VIRAL shares the remarkable account of James (Jim) Schmidt's World War II service and military career, and his grandson Henry De Hoop's efforts to generate interest in his grandfather's war journey with the help of social media. Like 16 million others of his generation, Schmidt responded to the national call to duty following the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. The twist: Schmidt enlisted at the age of 14 and left home without ever telling his parents. As a member of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division, he was sent to North Africa in late April of 1943. Schmidt's age was eventually revealed, and he was sent home, after his wounding in the invasion of Sicily. Not to be deterred, Schmidt would serve stints in both the U.S. Navy and Merchant Marines before finally reaching 18 and officially rejoining the Army. GRANDPA’S WAR JOURNEY GOES VIRAL charts a story of service that began in a movie theater in 1942 where the film Parachute Battalion grabbed a boy’s attention and ends in the jungles of Vietnam more than two decades later.
Oh, and he also occupied both Germany and Japan, fought at the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea, was the Sergeant Major for the entire Green Berets, and earned 2 Silver Stars.

Might be interesting. Obama wasn't originally scheduled. Maybe he's doing a PINO tantrum tour?

 Yeah, when I saw that clip yesterday it really hit home since I've been an Oakland / Los Angeles / Oakland / Las Vegas Raiders fan since the winning days of Ken Stabler, Lester Hayes, Mark van Eeghen, Ted Hendricks, and the rest. The Raiders have had many games stolen since 77. :x

Rise of Empires: Ottoman

Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II wages an epic campaign to take the Byzantine capital of Constantinople and shapes the course of history for centuries.
6 part series on the History Channel, pretty good. Go Allah, smash Jesus!

It's a Turkish historical docudrama with a largely Turkish cast, though almost all of the dialog is in English and none of it is dubbed. It's not preachy, but this gives it a different perspective from the usual Bible-thumping portrayals of conflict in the Balkans and Middle East.

I think I'll pass on the Ottoman Empire show and wait for the show about the recent and latest theft by Israel and the planned new settlements.

‘SNL’ Cast Members Worry About Presidential Race In Election Skit: “If Donald Trump Isn’t President, Then What Are We Gonna Talk About?”

Joe MIGHT disappoint us, but I am definitely NOT looking forward to 4 or 8 years of Jim Carrey’s Biden.
Woody Harrelson had it down.
It's a shame they're still on a holiday break. When it returns there may be some good inauguration jokes, but the Capitol riot jokes will probably be stale.

They'll try and may even succeed with some, but it would have been better last Sat or tonight. Former PINO's unearned and over the top departure show should provide some good fodder.

The horn guy should be at trump's departure and wear his horns and face paint while the my pillow guy drools off to the side. Both the horn guy and my pillow guy will receive the twice impeached presidential medal of freedom and everybody in attendance will gush in awe. My pillow, my horny hat.

Reports are that horny guy was in the Navy but didn't last long......guess he couldn't eat non organic Navy food. If I had been aware of his situation, I'd have arranged for him to be lashed to the bow of the ship wearing his attire so he could imitate the ancient custom of having the heads of goddesses carved into the central keel beam of a ship. As Admiral of the Fleet I have the authority to do this. Navy; it's not just a job, it's an adventure.

:thumbup: :-|| Aye aye, Admiral!

Tonight:
FBI: Most Wanted
Episode: Anonymous

The very unflatteringly portrayed villains are a group called "Z", and a non-Z rapist and his enabling daddy.
:---P
Idk whether they wrote and filmed the first of the year episode since 1/6 or if it is just uber-coincidental.

All Creatures Great and Small

PBS

The numerous adventures of a friendly staff at a country veterinarian practice in 1930s to 1940s Yorkshire. A remake of the 1978-1990 series. Taken from the autobiographical books by James Herriot.
I've only watched Episode 3, but looks good. It's nice recalling the books I loved as a kid.
