Wingnutties out of control!

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Did you just make up the Feinstein claim, or was that from one of your news sources?
Hard to tell. Leo Lyons routinely screws up well known and easily looked up facts all on his own, but he may have gotten an assist from rightwing "news".

Senate Democrats Investigate a New Allegation of Sexual Misconduct, from Brett Kavanaugh’s College Years

Feinstein did not find the 2nd accuser, she went to The New Yorker after, "The allegation was conveyed to Democratic senators by a civil-rights lawyer."

He's not accused of merely "exposing himself". He's accused of:
A third male student then exposed himself to her. “I remember a penis being in front of my face,” she said. “I knew that’s not what I wanted, even in that state of mind.” She recalled remarking, “That’s not a real penis,” and the other students laughing at her confusion and taunting her, one encouraging her to “kiss it.” She said that she pushed the person away, touching it in the process. Ramirez, who was raised a devout Catholic, in Connecticut, said that she was shaken. “I wasn’t going to touch a penis until I was married,” she said. “I was embarrassed and ashamed and humiliated.” She remembers Kavanaugh standing to her right and laughing, pulling up his pants. “Brett was laughing,” she said. “I can still see his face, and his hips coming forward, like when you pull up your pants.”
The witnesses are not just the smaller number of people in the room but rather people who heard about it at the time and:
She recalled another male student shouting about the incident. “Somebody yelled down the hall, ‘Brett Kavanaugh just put his penis in Debbie’s face,’ ” she said. “It was his full name. I don’t think it was just ‘Brett.’ And I remember hearing and being mortified that this was out there.”
It's a scream that a supposed former LEO so often screws up things that are so easily investigated.

OMG! California citizen sends her complaint to her senior California Senator, who is a ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Where in the world did she get the idea to send it to Feinstein?
Ford first contacted her own congressperson when Kavanaugh was announced as being a possible nominee. The congressperson recommended the letter to Feinstein.
From The Mercury News:
"Correction: September 19, 2018. An earlier version of this article reported, based on Eshoo’s recollection, that she met with Blasey Ford soon after Independence Day. Her staff later clarified that they met on July 20."

Maybe it was before Trumper's announcement. No, wait, it was after Trumper's announcement. No, it had to be...

At any rate, if Kavanaugh is guilty, it'll all come out in the wash despite the Liberal's policy to 'smear while the opportunity presents itself'.
I believe in proof, then the consequences.

While we were looking the other way:
On the calendar with Kavanaugh, a controversial nomination to an appellate court

... So far, the Republican-controlled Senate has confirmed 26 of the White House’s picks for the U.S. Court of Appeals. Trump has successfully appointed more appellate judges than any other president in recent memory at this point in his first term — leaving a markedly conservative imprint on the nation’s judiciary....

But bar associations and law student organizations are urging the committee to oppose his nomination — arguing that his relative inexperience and questionable political commentary make him ill-suited to preside over the Eighth Circuit.

The American Bar Association (ABA), which sets standards for law schools and ethical codes, officially rated Kobes “not qualified” because he has neither the requisite experience nor the evidence that he can produce the scholarly writing needed of a circuit court judge....

So Let Me Get This Straight:

We're a nation that accepts pornography, but hates abuse
We're a nation that doesn't believe in gender identification, but fights for women's rights
We're a nation that believes no child should be left behind, but we have aborted millions of babies
We're a nation where men and women have died so our flag could fly over a free nation, but then give the title of "heroes" to wealthy athletes who disrespect that same flag
We're a nation where political parties ignore the corruption of their own party while condemning the corruption of another
We're a nation of laws, yet we're a nation where that only applies if you're not politically powerful
We're a nation that has 'In God We Trust' printed on our money, but the ACLU sues those who make His name known in public
We're the 'greatest' nation on Earth, yet we consume more antidepressants and recreational drugs than any nation in the world
We're a nation that pledges "we're one", yet in reality, we're a nation of aggressive division

What - a place where unrelated and inaccurate generalities compared out of context passes for political thought?

Unrelated and inaccurate generalities?? Yes, each line is unrelated to the next. Read them again; with an open mind.
Personally, I didn't think of the words as political thought; rather a realistic look at what our society has evolved into. I'm not surprised that a liberal mind would take a 'ho-hum' approach to them. :(

SIGN NOW: Demand Congress close the reverse revolving door
The swamp just got swampier. The current Secretary of Health and Human Services is the former president of pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly. The acting EPA Administrator is a former employee of one of the country’s largest coal companies. And the Administration’s leading clean air official used to represent coal companies seeking to roll back clean air regulations. All three have written rules that benefit their former industries. We demand that Congress act to close the reverse revolving door, which allows former industry “experts” to write rules and laws that benefit their former bosses, not the American people.

Has anyone heard the timeline for Kavanaugh's absolute takeover of the SCOTUS?

According to the blowhard, kneejerk, petition posting websites, life on earth as we know it was supposed to end if/when Kavanaugh was confirmed.
Oh well, there's more fossils in the SCOTUS seats.

I know you, Leo - not personally of course, but I run into you several times a week. You're the guy that bothers to post a comment on an article about "Dancing with the Stars" and says "This is a stupid show, why does anyone watch it?" You're the guy that comes up to some people talking about the football game and chimes in with "I wouldn't let my kid play football." You're the guy that posts a comment in a NASCAR article saying that nobody watches it anymore and the rules are dumb. You're the guy who reads Yahoo news and comments on every article "get some writers with a clue."
Always contrary, always disparaging, rarely with an on-point opinion.

It's not up to me to tell anyone how to entertain themselves, but if I thought "DWTS" was a stupid show, I probably wouldn't bother to read an article about it, and I certainly wouldn't bother to post a comment. I'd spend my time reading about something I was interested in, and where I felt comfortable contributing to the conversation.

Isn't that the point of a "debate" forum? A petition was posted wherein comments were made that if elected, Kavanaugh would practically take over the supreme court by reversing rulings. I was quick to ridicule the contents of that petition with my opinions, which of course, you must disagree with; hence this debate. I said once before that I no longer take politics seriously; I view it as a rich-man's circus---therefore it has become to me, a form of entertainment.

FWIW, I (and many others) stopped replying with what you deem "on-point opinions"...I believe you know why.

What? Dancing with the stars? I don't think it's a stupid show; I don't watch it is all. Vrede posts about variety shows; but I don't comment in that thread because I have no interest.

I'd spend my time reading about something I was interested in, and where I felt comfortable contributing to the conversation.
Oh, I'm comfortable, thank you. If you guys were cons; and as rabid about your party's goings-ons as much as you do with your liberalism, I'd still be obliged to point out absurdities in your claims about "them damn dems" and all their faults and failures.

It's life, O Really, plain and simple everyday life. Each faction wants everybody to lean towards their way of thinking and living.
Ain't gonna happen; so poke fun at them; don't sweat the small stuff, life's too short.

I'm a Libran lawer, Leo, and I can quite literally argue both sides of most any issue. Sometimes I do take a position I don't really believe in just for the sport of discussion. It's not the difference of opinion that gets you disrespected here - it's the "whatabout..." arguments and the apparent lack of interest in the issues. Speaking only for myself, I would welcome someone who could and would present cogent, fact-based arguments in support of Trump policies. Unfortunately, "b-b-b-the Dems..." doesn't meet the criteria.

OK, O Really. I get the 'we're rather thin-skinned and don't care for puns or outright ridicule' aspect of your post.

Inasmuch as there are no cons posting Facebook-style memes, supposed quotes, and harping in general about the Dems as far back as Ted, Bill, Hillary, etc., I've been engrossed in the anti-Kavanaugh crusade from the "D-D-D-Dems". Besides his absolute sexual-assault guilt based only on 11th. hour claims; claims that he's a big a liar as Trumper, and namely, he's a Repub that liberal websites assailed upon with out-right comedic frequency, I find some comedy relief that you all don't seem to grasp as humorous!

I have numerous FB friends that are cons, and they post some of the most unbelievable crap and memes that demean the Dems and liberals. They get highly pissed at me when I debunk, criticize, laugh at, and even call the posting bullsh*t. I would do the same, given the opportunity here, but since all cons have been driven out by thin-skinned vitriol, I make do with what I've got... that's what gets me disrespected here. Does it bother me? No. I'm not that thin-skinned.

Why should everything posted be a "cogent, fact-based argument" anyway? Lighten up.
