Impeachment

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

BREAKING: President Trump examined for chest pain at Walter Reed, a source tells The Hill contributor Andrew Vernon
He's old, he's obese, he doesn't get proper sleep, his diet sucks, and he has regular temper tantrums.

I give him six months.
Maybe his bowels were impacted from clenching so much.

But didn't Dr. Phil or Dr. Bob or someone predict that he will live another 120+ years?

According to Government Accountability Project, https://www.whistleblower.org/ :
DID YOU KNOW...

Exposing the anonymous Ukraine whistleblower is illegal. Doing so violates 18 USC § 1505 which makes it a felony with five years' imprisonment to engage in communications that "endeavor to influence, obstruct, or impede" any "inquiry or investigation being had by either House, or any committee of either House or any joint committee of the Congress."

In addition, 18 USC § 1513(e) makes it a felony with ten years' imprisonment to "retaliate, [or] take any action harmful to any person, including interference with the lawful employment or livelihood of any person, for providing to a law enforcement officer any truthful information relating to the commission or possible commission of any Federal offense..."

Congressional oversight requires a free flow of information from executive branch employees, and an attempt to reveal the identity of a whistleblower is an attempt to influence, obstruct, or impede a congressional investigation.

Attempts at outing the whistleblower attack a key principal of whistleblower protection laws: the right to submit evidence anonymously to neutralize the fear of retaliation. All whistleblowing disclosure laws since 1978 include protection against exposing the whistleblower's identity. Canceling the right to anonymity increases the risk of retaliation and chills others from coming forward, drastically reducing the power of whistleblowers to expose abuses of power that betray the public trust.

ICYMI...

Identifying or misidentifying a whistleblower can have tragic consequences. In the case of the Ukraine whistleblower, Donald Trump Jr. may have opened up an uninvolved person's career to unfair scrutiny and potentially put the individual's life in danger.

In the context of an investigation, someone who names or retaliates against a whistleblower could be prosecuted for obstructing an investigation. Our experts talk with the New York Times, The Guardian, and ABC News about the importance of anonymity.

Whistleblower retaliation can take more forms than revealing their identity. Our Tom Devine tells CNN, "The forms of harassment on the job are limited only by the imagination.

Actually, it is. You see, the federal bribery statute, 18 USC 201, defines bribery to include attempted bribery. It's enough to "seek" a bribe - you don't actually have to pull your illegal scheme off.

But, cute cat, though.

Army officer on Trump phone call said it was his 'duty' to report president

Gee, who should I believe on matters of integrity, national security, loyalty and patriotism?

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman - war hero, foreign area officer specializing in Eurasia beginning in 2008, Director for European Affairs for the United States National Security Council

Or, the swine that are trying to smear him?

Steve Castor - RWNJ lawyer, no military service
Former Rep. (R-WI) Sean Duffy - former cast member of several reality TV shows, former ESPN color commentator, Faux Noise contributor, no military service
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade - sports anchor, no military service
Rep. “Gym” Jordan, R-Ohio - wrestler (nttawwt), J.D. degree but has not taken the bar examination, no military service
Rep. Devin Nunes (R) of California - former dairy farmer, conspiracy theorist, serves Dolt .45 on behalf of Putin, sued the Twitter account "Devin Nunes' Cow" (@DevinCow), no military service

Well, I don't think military service alone guarantees that someone is telling the truth. But a long record of service to the nation with high honors is a good indication of good character. Trump has a long record of disservice to the nation, from faking a disability to evade service to bilking the nation by evading taxes, including multiple violations of the Fair Housing Act, using his real estate empire to profit off laundering Russian mob money, and the more recent abuse of power and attempted bribery for political gain. This all should guarantee Trump and those who do his bidding suffer a long series of political defeats going forward. I don't claim the Dems are politically innocent, but they have a whole lot more to recommend themselves than the current administration/senate shit show.

On a personal note, I was born a year or two too late to have been drafted during the Vietnam War, so I never had to evade the draft, although I was looking into it should the need arise. And, when I did come of age, I got a high enough lottery number not to worry. So while I contemplated draft evasion, I never attempted it. I don't think thought crimes are yet actionable. I know some older folks who had ways to avoid being jungle fodder: one went to Canada, another got a year's academic exchange program in England, others got student deferments before those were phased out. I don't know anybody who faked a physical disability to evade service. Like Trump.

The President of the United States is insinuating that Democrats are trying to carry out a coup. Watch the doom and gloom ad on his Twitter.

I think we've become so accustomed to the batshitterry over the last few years that we don't think about how insane that is.

If Trump loses the next election, i bet he'll dispute it. Wonder how that's gonna play out?

They're really trying hard to tarnish Vindmans reputation. I didn't hear anything damning in his testimony that made me think he was a shit bag. It was brought up that Ukraine tried to tap him for a defense minister position, but he smacked it down.

The cuckhold political forum, being my bellweather for the dregs of Trumpistani political commentary, has a link posted to some random Twitter user that supposedly served with Vindman, noting unsubstantially that Vindman trashed the USA. If it's on the internet it must be true.

Well yeah, that's the pattern. Biden has been basically a flawed boy scout.

This whole thing is about tarnishing his character to win an election because he can't compete characterwise.

What strikes me as funny and pathetic is how Nunes uses his time to make references to the Steele Dossier and to the nutjob conspiracy theory that Ukraine meddled in the 2016 election. Instead of using his time to ask questions of the witnesses, he just makes statements that show his fealty to trump and his belief in batshit conspiracy theories. When he gets tired of that lunacy, he starts making disparaging statements about the hearings themselves, referring to them as a "circus" and a "sham" while the whole time the little GOP propaganda posters are on display behind him and his idiot cohorts. When he does ask witnesses questions, they are invariably ones that have no relevance whatsoever; he asks them if they know these people involved in some alleged Democrat conspiracy to illegally investigate the trump campaign or he asks them about if they know about a wingnut theory John Solomon wrote. His other tactic is to whine and moan that the whistleblower and Hunter Biden were witnesses he wanted to call but Schiff refused. Never mind that everything the whistleblower asserted in his report to the IG has been testified to as being correct and never mind the fact that revealing the identity of the whistleblower is against the law and never mind the fact that Hunter Biden never worked for the Ukrainian or US government and has no relevant knowledge of anything related to the issues of the inquiry. How can anyone take this fool seriously? And Jordan is about the same; he makes general and rambling statements asserting his fealty to trump and tries to convince anyone and everyone that the purpose of the impeachment inquiry is to overturn the results of the 2016 election while talking loud and fast as if this makes him more credible or something. These two morons just amaze me with their stupidity.

I just watched Chairperson Rep. Schiff delivever, while hardly referring to his notes:

A recap of what 45SHOLE and his co-conspirators did;
Why it was so awful;
A recap of Repug "defenses";
Why they're so ridiculous;
A comparison to Watergate and how what 45SHOLE and his co-conspirators did is so much worse;
A scathing of the modern Repugs as being so much worse than during Watergate - "Where is the Howard Baker?"
A summary of why this is so important to America AND the world.

Brilliant. Not too long and worth finding on YT.

Nunes might be going down, too.
Lev Parnas Helped Rep. Devin Nunes’ Investigations

Lev Parnas, an indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani, helped arrange meetings and calls in Europe for Rep. Devin Nunes in 2018, Parnas’ lawyer Ed MacMahon told The Daily Beast.

Nunes aide Derek Harvey participated in the meetings, the lawyer said, which were arranged to help Nunes’ investigative work. MacMahon didn’t specify what those investigations entailed.

Nunes is the top Republican on the House committee handling the impeachment hearings—hearings where Parnas’ name has repeatedly come up.

Congressional records show Nunes traveled to Europe from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3, 2018. Three of his aides—Harvey, Scott Glabe, and George Pappas—traveled with him, per the records. U.S. government funds paid for the group’s four-day trip, which cost just over $63,000.

The travel came as Nunes, in his role on the House Intelligence Committee, was working to investigate the origins of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian election-meddling.

Parnas’ assistance to Nunes’ team has not been previously reported. A spokesperson for Nunes did not respond to requests for comment....
