Trump at War?

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Ukrainian airplane crashes near Iran's capital, killing 176

Could be this was a relatively innocent and coincidental tragedy and I’m not prone to conspiracy theories, but sheesh - a UKRAINIAN airplane crash in IRAN???

Have you guys ever listened to the phone calls on C-SPAN ? I didn't realize people were so goddamn stupid. Actually, I think I did, but this is just confirmation.

I keep telling you guys places like that will rot your brain. I consider it like walking along and finding a large pile of dog shit. I could walk way around it, or look at it and think, "umm, there's some dog shit. I don't want to step in it, but maybe I'll just nudge it with my foot a little to see if it's really dog shit. Damn! I got dog shit on my shoe!"

You are right.

The degree of stupid is massive, alternative facts are their reality, Trump is their Messiah and ain't nothing going to change them.

Time to clean my shoes.

That's how Facebook is. I crank it up from time to time to see the insanely stupid stuff people share/believe whenever something big happens.

You are spot on with the brain rot.

I think it's as damaging to ones health as drinking a 40 for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and smoking a few packs of cigs with a side of paint chips on the daily.

Actor Nelsan Ellis — most famous for his portrayal of gay, brawling short order cook Lafayette Reynolds on HBO’s “True Blood” — has died at the age of 39, according to Variety.

The actor reportedly died of complications from heart failure....
Wow.

I think you've passed the dangerous age.

Here's the link that GoCubsGo intended or rawstory.com changed to:
https://www.rawstory.com/2020/01/what-d ... n-remarks/

Tweets:
"Slurring," "Adderall" and #TrumpSpeech are trending. Sounds like it went really well.
whoever it was that shot Trump up with a bunch of horse tranquilizers or whatever this morning to prevent him from starting WWIII, I salute you
You can literally hear him trying to keep his tongue in his mouth.
Trump is not well.
Trump is high as a kite on some drug he sniffed.
It's pretty bad when I see "Adderall" trending and my first thought is "Oh, right, the 'president' gave a speech this morning."
Wtf you doing with your tongue ol boy

More tweets at link.

Imagine how bad off he must have been last night when they postponed the speech until this morning.

Or, the illegal assassination was not about terrorism at all. Rather, it was deliberately to prevent improved relations between Iran and Iraq.
And the very happy coincidence that we're not talking about impeachment and Cheetohead is under the delusion he will be some type of hero as a wartime president.
Yeah, I meant the particular target. It's a given that this is primarily an impeachment distraction and sleazy election ploy. It's being reported that an armored golf cart is under development so that he can personally lead us to victory.

NC doing its part:

As 3,500 Soldiers Deploy, a 'Whirlwind' Whips Through Fort Bragg
It's now up to 5500 from NC alone.

I've really reduced my posting, trying to quit entirely, especially with the unknown future of that forum. I've also come to appreciate how much I prefer the phpbb software here over that "yabb" software over there.

Proof that impeached 45SHOLE did it - 1/3 of the passengers were Canadian.

Tucker Carlson Dissents as Right-Wing Media Weighs Trump's Iran Strike

I'm surprised that Tucker is still at it. Usually, the lockstep, ovine, PC snowflake Trumpette outrage and threats shut down any Repug dissent. Is it an indication of how badly impeached POSPOTUS screwed up this time?

Never listened to those calls, but George Carlin said "Imagine how stupid the average person is and then realize that half of them are stupider than that."
George Carlin said "I’m tired of these self-righteous environmentalists, these white bourgeoise liberals who think the only thing wrong with this country is there aren’t enough bicycle paths. People trying to make the world safe for their Volvos. Besides, environmentalist don’t give a shit about the planet, they don’t care about the planet, not in the abstract they don’t, not in the abstract they don’t. You know what they’re interested in? A clean place to live. Their own habitat. They’re worried that someday in the future they might be personally inconvenienced. Narrow, unenlightened self-interest doesn’t impress me. Besides, there is nothing wrong ith the planet, nothing wrong with the planet. The planet is fine. The people are ******."
Such foul language from this fellow.

De nada. Thanks for the alert to impeached 45SHOLE's physical or chemical dementia and then to the link confirming it. I did not watch the speech at the time, just disturbing snippets since.

Exclusive: Americans say Soleimani's killing made US less safe, Trump 'reckless' on Iran

Americans by more than 2-1 say the killing of Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani has made the United States less safe, a nationwide USA TODAY/Ipsos Poll finds, amid broad concerns about the potential consequences ahead.

A majority of those surveyed, by 52%-34%, called Trump's behavior with Iran "reckless."

Americans were divided on the wisdom of the drone strike at the Baghdad airport last week that killed Soleimani and others: 42% supported it, 33% opposed it; 25% said they didn't know what to think. Republicans were much more supportive than Democrats; independents were almost evenly split.

But there was overwhelming agreement – in each case by more than 6-1 – that the attack made it more likely Iran would strike American interests in the Middle East (69%), that there would be terrorist attacks on the American homeland (63%), and that the United States and Iran would go to war with each other (62%).

By 52%-8%, those polled said the attack made it more likely that Iran would develop nuclear weapons.

... Americans by 55%-24% believe the attack that took his life has made the United States less safe, rejecting a fundamental argument the Trump administration has made. Just one in 10 said it had made the U.S. "much more safe;" three times as many said it had made the nation "much less safe."

Nearly a third of Republicans, who typically support the president, said it had made the nation less safe.

Some saw a domestic political motive behind the attack. By 47%-39%, those surveyed said Trump ordered the killing of Soleimani in an attempt to divert the focus from his impeachment. There was little support for the idea of delaying the Senate impeachment trial until the crisis with Iran was resolved; that was opposed by 55%-26%.

... A double-digit majority, 53%-33%, endorsed congressional action that would limit Trump's ability to order military strikes or declare war without legislative approval. Supporters included 78% of Democrats, 26% of Republicans and 54% of independents....
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember an act of war with less initial support in my lifetime.
