It's probably true. They don't usually have to make up an excuse to fold in the big ones.
Who knows? The announcers say that UNC's last appearance in a major Bowl was in 1950.
I guess that depends on one's definition of "major" bowl. But certainly they have never been a feared opponent.
New Year's Six, I'm pretty sure. Idk what the announcers were thinking. UNC beat Auburn 16–10 in the December 31, 2001 Peach Bowl. That was their last major Bowl.

I kept track of the score but didn't watch any of it, perhaps for the first time in years.
Watched the first quarter and it was interesting. Started flipping in the second and by halftime it was unwatchable.
I did see an amazing replay of one of Heisman winning DeVonta Smith's grabs.
