I don't think there was anything to blame for their loss other than themselves not playing as well as the 'Niners. But at the end, they had given themselves a chance to win, which is a lot better than it looked like they'd have after the first half. I'll keep rooting for the 'Hawks as long as they're in it (duh) but once they go down, and maybe once the Iggles go down, I'll be like "Go 'Niners"
Yeah, I'm not sure where this came from:

Seattle got beat fair and square.

RIP Riverboat Ron.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/282 ... ne-seasons

Don't know that he deserved it, especially three quarters through a season. Kind of tacky....
Idk either, but losing to DC (in NC) is pretty bad.
Anything can happen on any given Sunday in the NFL, but yeah, that's bad.
I guess they felt bad about it  .

Ron Rivera agrees to become next Washington coach

They've been so awful for so long that I'm convinced that a new coach won't make the difference. It's either crappy ownership, karma for the racist name or both.

Saturday, January 4, go:

Buffalo > @Houston, 4:35 PM ET, but I don’t hate Houston. Houston is favored by 2.5.
Tennessee > @New England, 8:15 PM. New England is favored by just 5.

Sunday, January 5

@New Orleans > Minnesota, 1:05 PM, the only home team I’m rooting for, but I don’t hate Minnesota. New Orleans is favored by 8!
Seattle > @Philadelphia, 4:40 PM, but I don’t hate Philadelphia. Seattle is favored by 2, the only favored visitor.

Deshaun Watson picking the 'real Tigers' in title game

“I’m riding with my Tigers, and that’s what we’re going to do,” he said. “We’re going to be ready for that moment. We’ve been there multiple times. Those guys know that the opportunities don’t come every year, and they got another opportunity to be back to back and go 15-0 again. So, those guys will be ready, and it’ll be fun to watch.”

That was a helluva game, capped by an amazing Watson play. Good for Houston.

I wouldn't bet on it tonight, but very possibly his last game in Foxboro.

Who knows? His retirement has been desired by Giselle and predicted by the world for years.

Nope, no bets. But I'll probably lift a beverage if he loses.

It's a bleak day in Beantown. And sympathy south of the MA state line is probably scarcer than Skittles in the Brady kids' lunch box.

But fly he did! How'd you like to have been the dude on the receiving end of that leap? 250 pounds of flying Beast right in the face.
He caught a pass for big yardage! No one was covering him because they thought they'd never throw it his way. This set up an even longer pass for a TD to DK Metcalf on the next play, 17-6.

DK Metcalf:

2 OT games, and it could have easily been 4 the way the final scores were. Nice!

It's official - Beast Mode is back!

https://www.seattletimes.com/
1st touch - Beast up the middle for a 7 contested yards  .

Which would you and Lady O prefer - #3 seed and 10-6 Vikings at home, or #5 seed and 9-7 Eagles in Philly? I know the obvious answer is #3, but getting #5 really might make for an easier game to win.

I think the Seahawks may have had a better road record than a home record this year. Anyway, it won't matter if they don't get any better than they're playing tonight. :(
The defense is hanging in there. If the Seahawks somehow wins tonight, it will be ironic if they lose to MN and SF beats Philly.
Different matchups, BUT the Vikings won on the road vs. a #3 team thought to be as good or better than the Seahawks, and the #5 Seahawks won on the road. Guess that worked out okay.

DK Metcalf (Ole Miss): 7 Rec, 160 Yds, 22.9 Avg, 1 TD
The announcers were ranting about how he went in the 2019 2nd round, 9th! receiver picked, 32nd overall, when one of them thought he should have gone 7th overall.

2 passes to Lynch! 25 reception yds and a rushing TD.
Otherwise, Wilson got 45 yds on 9 carries, but Lynch and Homer got 19 yds on 17 carries. Ugh, can't keep winning like that.

Kansas City is favored by 9.5. Too much, I think, but maybe that's my bias.

Seattle is favored by 4. Standard homefield advantage +1 seems reasonable.
