Alabama lawmakers pass bill requiring chemical castration for child sex offenders
Alabama lawmakers have passed legislation that would require convicted child sex offenders to undergo “chemical castration treatment” before they are released from prison.
The bill, HB 379, which passed unanimously in the state Senate on Tuesday, requires convicted offenders who abused a child under the age of 13 to take drugs, such as medroxyprogesterone acetate treatment, that block the production of testosterone, as well as other naturally occurring hormones and chemicals in the body that drive libido, as a condition for parole. The offender will also be required to pay for the treatment unless they cannot afford it.
The bill still needs to be signed by Alabama Governor Kay Ivey to become law.
Alabama is not the only state to consider chemical castration for sex offenders. California passed a chemical castration bill in the 1990s for repeat child sex offenders, and a similar law exists in other states including Florida, Louisiana, Montana and Oregon.

This is something Roy Moore should maybe check into or even volunteer for; at his age, chemical castration shouldn't be that much of a penalty for him to suffer; it could be considered retribution, vengeance, or good works.......all fine well worn religious concepts that he should be familiar with. But I expect he will remain a fake Christian until his final day. Besides, not much point in any form of castration for someone with testicles that have atrophied to the size of raisins.

You made your voice heard and lawmakers listened! This afternoon the state House voted to sustain Governor Cooper’s veto of S.B. 359, an anti-abortion bill that spread false claims about how abortion care works and sought to criminalize health care providers.

Thanks to you and other ACLU supporters’ actions throughout this fight, we were able to stop this legislation that spread lies and misinformation as part of an ultimate agenda to ban abortion outright.

Given the wave of anti-abortion legislation happening all over the country, we need you now more than ever. We’re glad to have your support to fight against any rollbacks of Roe v. Wade and keep abortions safe, legal, and accessible for everyone in North Carolina.

Thank you again. This is a great victory for reproductive freedom in North Carolina!

      ACLU of North Carolina
      Vote: Veto Override

Ayes: 67 - All misogynist, Big Brother worshiping Repugs and 1 misogynist, Big Brother worshiping Democrat
Noes: 53 - All women respecting, freedom worshiping Democrats

Not even close to an override. :---P

Not a surprise that misogynists detest democracy, nor that misogyny and hating democracy are genetic in the Ashcroft Klan.

Do Repugs really care about babies? Of course not, this is purely about repressing women, they just don't have the balls to admit it.

Giving black moms health insurance may save their babies’ lives
States that expanded Medicaid saw their black infant health outcomes improve, a study found.

I'm not sure of the full list of extreme anti-choice states, but they include those that have all refused to expand Medicaid.
MO, AL, MS, GA - Passed draconian bills.
TN, NC, TX - Failed to enact draconian bills.

Status of State Medicaid Expansion Decisions: Interactive Map

Imagine that, women hating states are all actual baby killing and harming states, as opposed to dishonestly defined "baby" killing states. This is no coincidence.

Then, it's common sense that women whose healthcare is certain, along with otherwise being financially secure, are less likely to choose abortion. However, Repugs work against minimal financial security and even against expanded access to birth control. It's almost like they're deliberately increasing abortions in order to keep their ignorant, gullible, misogynist minions stirred up.

      Subject: For House Bill 655

      Dear Rep. McGrady,

Thank you for cosponsoring House Bill 655 NC Health Care for Working Families, which would expand Medicaid. This will improve the health and survivability of fetuses, infants, children, pregnant women, and other adults, unlike the GOP's recent SB 359 misogynist, anti-choice failure. Good luck, NC should leave the shameful 14 states that have not done this.

      Sincerely,

Georgia Democrats Respond to GOP’s Total Abortion Ban With ‘Testicular Bill of Rights’
Georgia Democratic Rep. Dar’shun Kendrick wants to change the discourse around Republicans' total abortion ban with legislation that would strictly regulate men's reproductive health care.

      Image

Some of the legislation Kendrick has asked legislative counsel to draft includes requiring men to obtain permission from their sex partner before obtaining a prescription for Viagra or other erectile dysfunction medications; making it aggravated assault for men to have sex without a condom; requiring paternity testing and the immediate start of child support payments at six weeks and one day into a pregnancy; and introducing a 24-hour waiting period for men to purchase pornography or sex toys.

More a politician than a Democrat; he knows this law will never be enforced; he just sold himself out for his own political benefit; happens every day but more so with Republicans.
It's true for all of the creepy Big Brother pols in all of these states. They get the adulation and $$$ from their always gullible misogynist minions while not affecting the real world in any way, other than all of the lost opportunities from tax dollars invested in a certain constitutional failure.
Republican Governor Signs Bill Protecting Abortion Rights

      Haha, pitiful misogynists lose, again.

      Comments:
An example of an elected official actually representing his constituents instead of his party.
      Kudos Mr. Scott
About time a Republican stands up for woman's rights.
So in Vermont Republicans respect separation of church and state? Did not know they existed.
So a true Republican, for personal freedom and minimal government.

I just read about this a few minutes ago and sent the city an email. I urge others to do the same. I suggested that they forgot to include in their stupid law the provision for mandatory child support at six weeks of pregnancy, and ended my message on a cheerful note (for them) that before the Civil War Southern "Christian" preachers justified slavery by referencing the bible and religion.

We can (and do) laugh at those clowns, knowing their little "ordinance" is meaningless and would get overturned in a NY minute if challenged, but it is very disturbing to see how more and more governmental units and individuals feel free to just totally ignore existing law. And of course, that has sharply increased with Trump's ummmm, "leadership." Used to be a governmental unit would come up with some illegal idea and their lawyers would tell them it's illegal and they need to go back and come up with some way around it. Now, they just say fuckit, we're passing it and let them sue us. A broad disrespect for the law is how the rule of law crumbles. No exaggeration.

Yeah, I never would have imagined in my earlier life that our country would be like it is now. In a way, I'm glad I'm in the twilight of my own participation. Hell, if you get pulled over for running a red light or stop sign, you could blame the cop for being part of the "deep state." This kind of lunacy is just not something I would ever believe had I not been here to see it. Oh, if anyone wants to express their congratulations to the city of Waskom, TX, the email address is info@cityofwaskom.com. I signed mine "intestinally yours" with my name. So far not heard anything from them. But that's not surprising; the population of the town is about 2,000 and I bet at least half of them are incestuous wingnuts who always carry guns and give anyone passing through town the stink eye.

I've seen several stories today that can be attributed to the war on women in myriad ways. One is that Sarah Sanders (alleged woman) is leaving her position as chief public liar to the press and public. Another is that the government ethics office is recommending that Kellyanne Conway (also an alleged woman) be fired for repeatedly violating the Hatch Act. And lastly, GOP congressman Duncan Hunter has a personal war on one woman; his wife.....she pleaded guilty to conspiracy today and will testify against Duncan at his trial. I expect Duncan to lose his war and be found guilty of using campaign money for personal use in the amount of about two hundred thousand dollars. Duncan has already blamed his misfortune on the "deep state" and is hoping for support from Hannity and Carlson in his ordeal. Personally, I think the best thing for Duncan is for him to slide down a mile long razor blade into a pool of alcohol. I feel it would give him more insight into the concept of the deep state. ok

After further contemplation of this abortion ban, I am wondering if it was even necessary at all. In a town named Waksom, I sort of think the male population is not heavily engaged in male/female sexual activity. What a bunch of fuckoffs. :wtf:
