Coronavirus

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

:x is Mr. Trump unaware, in criticising the EU's free movement of people for assisting the spread of the virus, that the USA has, er, free movement of people?

The announcement looks like anti-EU propaganda, especially the jibes about the rapidity of EU actions, when he himself was doing zero as recently as, what, 10 days ago?

The likelihood of this happening is very high.

Your computer can get a coronavirus virus. Forwarded to me from a very trusted EM source:
Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2020 12:03 PM
Subject: Malware associated with fake coronavirus map
Importance: High

All,

Please see the (linked) document.
https://secureus202.sgcpanel.com:2096/c ... 4037180420

The bottom line:

"A malicious website pretending to be the live map for Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases by Johns Hopkins University is circulating on the internet waiting for unwitting internet users to visit the website. Visiting the website infects the user with the AZORult trojan, an information stealing program which can exfiltrate a variety of sensitive data."

Please note “[dot]” in the malicious website address below has been added to prevent accidental connection to this website.

“corona-virus-map[dot]com”

Additionally, please be vigilant in examining all emails received as the Coronavirus will likely be used in the subject of many phishing email attempts.

Well, just learned that my county has also banned gatherings of more than 1,000 people until the end of March, at least.

So the Oakland Athletics are cancelling attendance at their March games in the interim. AFAIK. I think it's still pre-season, anyway. Season opener is towards end of March.
San Diego County has banned gatherings of more than 250, and cancelled a bunch of stuff. SDSU going to video classes. Disney parks closing for a while.

On April 14th we are flying to Hawaii, staying for 2 weeks then taking a cruise ship to Seattle. Booked in January. Do I have foresight or am I just lucky?
I'm flying into San Jose (where there seems to be a lot of cases) a few days after you hit up Hawaii. Can we be quarantine buddies?
Trump considers travel restrictions to California and Washington in attempt to stop coronavirus spread

If so, I would guess that full refunds are automatic.

Lot of churches have 250-500+ people. I'm guessing the feds/state can't actually require them to curtail meetings, or maybe they can, I don't know. Anyway, we may be in for some well-needed entertainment over the issue soon.

Ignorant guess: They can since it doesn't apply just to churches, and not doing so would be 'establishment of religion'.

Another guess: Churches will want to protect their parishioners and/or not get the negative PR from resisting. They can always livestream services.

Here's one staying open...
"One of President Donald Trump’s favorite pastors, Robert Jeffress, intends to keep a 13,000-member Dallas church open because he has a book signing on Sunday.

He explained that his book signing is far more important than anything else.

“Entertainment is optional,” he said according to the New York Times. He explained that worship isn’t."

Has Texas banned gatherings yet?
Another ignorant guess: The game changes when they become illegal.

That said, I fully support fundies and prosperity gospel Christians gathering in large numbers. I'm suuuure that their faith will protect them.
