Gun reform, drug reform, whatever reform. Too little effort, too late an effort, and too plentiful to get any kind of handle of control on either of them.

The only way to get any control on them is to totally ban each; and if that happens, guess who will have guns, drugs, and whatever?
Candidates run for office on the noble platform of anti- guns, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, etc. in order to impress and garner votes. If (or when) elected, they discover they can offer no more than lip-service. Their promises are as useless as tits on a boar hog.

Bit of a fatalistic attitude there, Leo. But you're generally right that it's too big a problem to be solved easily or by politician promises. But if we had started a diligent effort to curtail gun use 40 years ago, it would probably be better now. If we start now, maybe it will be better in 40 years hence. Or, we can just let it go until we're all living Mogodishu-style.
