We are really in trouble if this guy is the next president. He's trump with a brain.
Everything has a workaround, because anything can mean anything.

"Ron DeSantis announced six conservative board members have been appointed to the liberal New College of Florida Friday — his latest broadside against so-called wokeness as he attempts to shape education policy in the state."

"The school — ranked fifth among the nation’s public universities by US News and World Report — is the state’s smallest, with fewer than 700 students."

How far will it fall?

"DeSantis’ most controversial pick for the school’s board is right-wing activist and Manhattan Institute fellow Christopher Rufo."

Rufo said "'Left-wing radicals have spent the past fifty years on a ‘long march through the institutions,'” he tweeted — quoting German socialist Rudi Dutschke. “We are going to reverse that process, starting now.”'

Isn't there anything the remaining sane citizens of Florida, if any, can do about this maniac?

New College has been a bastion since I was a high schooler in Sarasota in the 70's and before.

I can't imagine a scenario other than trump running 3rd party that doesn't put this guy in the WH in 24.

Might be wishful thinking, but I disagree. Non-incumbent front runners often flop in the primaries. Then, I think Fascist COVIDiot DerSantis has been so extreme and homicidal that he won't win a general.

He disguises himself well. I'm scared of him and his recent 60% in the governors race.

I hope that mostly reflects a right shift in FL and Crist being a weak alternative more than it does broad-based appeal that will transfer well to the national stage. We'll see.

2022
... DeSantis won with 59.4% of the vote to Crist's 40%....
... Rubio won the November 8 general election with 57% of the vote to Demings's 41%.

Not much of a difference. How did other statewide RepuQs do?

Can Ron DeSantis Avoid Meeting the Press?

Fascist DerSantis is a coward just like his mentor, the lifelong cowardly "bone spurs" Chickenhawk in Chief.

As legal bills mount, Florida paid about $35,000 for each migrant in Martha's Vineyard flights

So far. Did they get hot towels and complimentary drinks? The Disney fiasco and this kidnapping/human trafficking of migrants are examples of Fascist Dersantis and the RepuQs' "fiscal responsibility". All Floridians must pay for their cheap stunts and bigaughtry.

DeSantis is GOP’s early front-runner. That could be a problem

former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R)
former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean (D)
former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R)
former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R)

I would add Hillary 2008 and McCain 2000.

Doesn't enforcing our laws against kidnapping/human trafficking across state lines and abuse of migrants fall to Merrick and his doj.
Oh I forget, everyone gives him a break. He's already working on investigating Biden and it ain't like he should be able to delegate.

After all, Obama wasn't blamed for never trying to work on voter reform because he was too busy helping the insurance companies and big pharma.

The more I look back, the more I feel like Charlie Brown and see Lucy with her football as the post 1980 Democratic Party.

We had a chance in 2000, but Jeb cheated Gore out of thousands, maybe tens of thousands, of votes. Since then it's been mostly losing ground.

Yes, there are federal laws, but I'm not sure if the legal case for kidnapping/human trafficking is there, even if it's my personal description. Then, there's the question of how strong the wall of deniability is between Fascist DerSantis and his lying contractor.

There was a TX county DA investigating. Idk if that's still in progress.

IDK, but I think the case of kidnapping/trafficking came up because of the lies the migrants were told. The kidnappers said they migrants went "voluntarily" which I guess they mostly did, but they weren't told any part of the truth about where they were being taken.

Exactly. Plus, they were lied to about the situation they would be dumped in. Does this meet the legal standard for kidnapping/trafficking? -0-? , but I'll keep using the words as descriptors. Technically, maybe fraud is more apt. We'll see after the lawsuits and possible local or federal cases are settled.

It's ironic that they landed amidst welcoming, caring, compassionate and helpful people while Fascist DerSantis and Florida will be discomfited over this for months or years. Win-win  , except for the few remaining sane Floridians like billy.pilgrim. :problem:

His black people election police are still batting 0.

"Patterson was not allowed to vote under state law, but state elections officials — who report to DeSantis — cleared him to receive a voter ID card and didn’t stop him from voting in the 2020 election."
Fascist DerSantis in action:

Man arrested at gunpoint in DeSantis voter fraud crackdown, video shows
In August, armed officers descended on homes of two men accused of illegally voting

Literally at gunpoint . . . for voting!

How can someone write about the DeSantis voter fraud police unit's behavior towards set-up black offenders
without showing the contrast of DeSantis own behavior toward actual voter fraud by white republicans in the Villages and elsewhere where no force was even implied and the toughest penalty was a few hours of Civics class. The white people even get to keep on voting.

I didn't forget ("set-up blacks" and "actual voter fraud"), but it sure looks like the journalist failed to paint the whole picture.
