Mass Shootings

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Responsible TN5 parents and others must feel pretty hopeless having Ogles as their Rep. :(
They shouldn't feel too bad. One gun lobby-owned congress critter more or less wouldn't make any difference.

Very true with ultimate votes :( . However, to experience this tragedy and to be so voiceless in Congress because Lying Ogles is such a pig must sting that much more. I know how much it frustrated me to be repped by Meadows and MadCaw even without a school shooting. It's almost like the Ogles family invited the tragedy with that disgusting xmas pic.

Yeah I understand, but one could argue that the feeling that having a "rep" who looks after your interests will actually make any difference overall may be just glossing over the problem. There are reps in Congress who support gun regulation laws, and they introduce bills that die in committee no matter which party is in power. It's a gun culture problem, not necessarily a gun problem. And nobody is gonna fix it. An approach similar to tobacco could work - eventually - i.e. make guns uncool and socially unacceptable - but nobody is going to that, either.

Not that they matter more than other folks, especially grieving parents and other family members, but it's interesting that both Olympic Gymnast Shawn Johnson and actress Melissa Joan Hart have direct connections to the Nashville massacre. Must be a rich 'hood, though Idk if the church and school are wealthy.

All 3 of the slaughtered kids were 9, perhaps not surprising depending on how the attack played out. Then, the 3 slaughtered adults were 60 and 61. Coincidence, but one of the stranger mass shooting tallies I've seen.

I guess the school director might be a "sensible" target for a resentful and deranged former student, but a janitor and a substitute teacher??!!

I dunno if it's true, but I read a report that she just shot somewhat randomly without specific targets.

My bad, I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I'm just struck by how it worked out. Xtian schools are not known for paying teachers well. I can only imagine what the sub was getting for risking her life.

I don't really have a problem with McCarthy not running off his mouth with some meaningless blabbering harummmph followed by nothing. He's not going to do anything, everybody knows it. What would anybody expect him to say?

Fine, SINO McCarthy is a "coward" for doing nothing then. I'll vote for Gavin, anyhow. ;)

Oh, I'm all for Gavin, but McCarthy isn't a "coward" - at least not because of avoiding an issue he has no intention of addressing, nor any chance of getting anything done if he did address it. Ignoring the issue is probably the most honest thing he's ever done.

That's not what I meant. I can accept that not addressing the questions posed may not be cowardice. However, his being a lapdog for the NRA and gun industry and not doing anything about the underlying issue IS homicidal cowardice.

Nashville mass shooting suspect misidentified on social media

Wait, Dinesh D'Souza, who has duped millions of Trumpettes and other cons with "2000 Mules" and other inventions, perpetually raving Donald Trump Jr, and RW crazies like QAnon John LIED, again? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.

I'll see your high schooler and raise you a 4th grader:
Greenville (SC) elementary school student charged after gun found in backpack

... Upon a search of the student's backpack, deputies found an empty gun and an unattached magazine with ammunition inside....

Except there's still a fair amount of PTSD going on around here.

America doesn't care if your five year old is splattered across his or her kindergarten classroom. Yeah, that's a morbid way to put it, but that's what's happening. Put it in their faces and make them see it for themselves. Anti abortion protestors often hold signs with images of dead fetuses. Make the public see the uncomfortable, ugly, fucked up truth. No more out of sight, out of mind.

You think we need an Emmett Till moment?

Disturbing pic

Could be. Would the MSM, ISP and/or social media censors go along with it? Notably, lynchings did seem to slow after the 1955 Till murder, but they did not stop entirely.

There's a National Lynching Memorial in Montgomery, Alabama. billy.pilgrim has been to it. There's the Sandy Hook Memorial and probably other local memorials, but maybe we need a National School Shootings Memorial. I propose Uvalde, Texas. It'll do the most good in a gunhappy state.

Did you see this? Armed 4th grader at Cherrydale Elementary School (302 Perry Road) in Greenville:
