It was hard to watch. He had his legs taken out from under him and landed really bad while going up for a rebound.

New stupid weird college basketball rule for Goal tending:
To save time (?) they don’t review goal tending until some subsequent game stoppage. If it was a bad call points are taken away then.
It cost us a possession. Kentucky made a fairly obvious clean block on Broome. Both announcers saw it as clean, but a referee called it goal tending and awarded us the points.
The ball went out of bounds on Kentucky, but because of the call giving us the points, Kentucky got possession. Later, after review the points were removed, but nothing could be done about the lost possession.

Stupid rule - glad it didn’t make a difference in the game.
Hard to imagine that the rule makers couldn’t have seen this coming.

Geno becomes 2nd on all-time wins list in UConn's win over Creighton

UConn coach Geno Auriemma broke a tie with Mike Krzyzewski for second-most wins by a head coach in Division I men's or women's college basketball on Monday as his team took care of No. 21 Creighton with a 73-53 victory.

Auriemma now boasts 1,203 career wins, all of which were at UConn. Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer is the only coach ahead of him with 1,209 career wins across stints at Idaho, Ohio State and Stanford....

I’ve yet to find anyone who understands the fairness of this New Rule.


New stupid weird college basketball rule for Goal tending:
To save time (?) they don’t review goal tending until the next Media Timeout. If it was a bad call points are taken away then.
So far no problem, although I’m not sure why it’s necessary, as goal tending is far too infrequently called for this rule to speed up the game.
So, at best one game in 50 is a little shorter. At the worst, a significant number of teams lose a possession due to an official’s mistake.

It only costs us a possession in an already lopsided game so no big deal, but a single possession in basketball often determines a win or OT.

In our game:

Baaaaad rule. Calls, and any related penalties and/or reviews should be immediate, right or wrong. And what is the rule if the game isn't televised and has no Media Timeouts?

Imagine a similar rule in football. WDE scores in the first quarter on a returned Bammer punt. They score again in the second and lead Bammer 14-0 at the half. But wait! The halftime review finds that WDE was holding on the runback, so they take way that score. Then, because they weren't entitled to that score, they take away points subsequent to it. So the second half starts 0-0 and Bammer gets the ball to start. Oh wait, refs might do that anyway in that game.

Unless it happened late in a close game and changed the outcome.

I wouldn’t have known about it except that we lost a possession early enough in the game that it could have mattered.

NIL, s/he can buy their own ride now. Athletes paid by the schools MAY be coming.

CFP unanimously approves 5+7 model for new 12-team playoff

The College Football Playoff board of managers unanimously approved a model that will guarantee the five highest-ranked conference champions' inclusion in the expanded 12-team field this fall, along with the next seven highest-ranked teams, the CFP announced Tuesday.

After months of delay at the behest of the dwindling Pac-12, the decision was made Tuesday morning in a virtual meeting of the 10 FBS commissioners and the Notre Dame president, Rev. John Jenkins. The vote had to be unanimous for the 5+7 format to be approved, and the Pac-12 had either previously abstained or asked for a delay as it worked on determining its future following sweeping conference realignment.

... In the 12-team format, the four highest-ranked conference champions will receive a first-round bye....

I'm open to criticisms, but sounds good to me, a wise compromise. 12 teams, 11 games, I'm excited. 24 teams like the FCS before too long?

No. 15 Creighton halts No. 1 UConn's 14-game win streak

Creighton went into its game against UConn having lost all six of its previous meetings with No. 1-ranked teams and never coming closer than 10 points.

The No. 15 Bluejays finally broke through on their seventh try, building a double-digit lead in the first half and knocking off the Huskies 85-66 Tuesday night....

UConn (24-3, 14-2) had its 14-game win streak -- which had been the longest active streak in Division I -- end three days after it beat then-No. 4 Marquette by 28 points for one of the most impressive victories of the season -- and one day after it was voted as the first unanimous No. 1 this season in the AP poll....

Wow. I've got nothing against UConn and have no special love for Creighton, but I love a good hand grenade tossed into the Top 10.
