We were lucky - the big storm was pretty much a non event for us personally. We had constant rain for a couple of days but mostly gentle, and the area where we are has great drainage both natural and infrastructure. Some relatively minor flooding on some low roads but we easily avoided it. But the weather chicks didn't say this in so many words but basically if where you live ends in "Valley" you might get uncomfortably wet. Back to sunshine today.

The pics on those Dana Point houses were spooky, considering people are still living there. But the whole area from San Clemente north is sliding down, just not all at once. The railroad past San Clemente has been closed for months to passenger trains because of landslides.

Thx, 70° in February, I took the dog for an extended walk today. 50° temperature drop tonight. 60's again by Sunday. Pneumonia season.

We had a glorious day today - much better than had been predicted. We were supposed to have mostly cloudy mid-60's but by 11 the clouds were mostly gone. We took a long walk and then watched the surfers on 5-6 foot rollers. Made the customary stop by the fish monger, fired up the grill, poured a couple glasses of Gewürztraminer, and expect a good sunset. Good times.

But look - houses have been falling off steep hillsides for decades from Seattle to San Diego. The harsh weather from climate change has certainly made erosion faster, but it wasn't Mother Nature who told those people it was a good idea to build on the edge of a sandy cliff. Some might have been warned even from the Bible

In Matthew 7, Jesus said everyone who hears his words and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Then he went on to say everyone who hears his words and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand
