Idiot box thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I haven't been so glad to see somebody leave since the gruesome Hantz duo.

Did anybody buy me notice how well Venus cleans up?

Starting to get on board the Maria and Tiffany train for a winner.

It's not going to be
Venus
Q
Ben

Doubtful on
Charlie
Kenzie
Liz
Tevin
and probably Hunter.
Starting to get on board the Kenzie train and Charlie is better liked than I thought.

Spoiler:
Kenzie was too sweet to lose. Liz's delusion is trumpian.

Maria........don't know what to think. If she was a guy everyone would love her game.

Until the final vote.

Nothing against Kenzie, but I thought Charlie played the better game.

Kenzie stuck to the plan!

I had come to prefer Charlie, but I was OK with anybody not named Ben. Maria shoulda voted for Charlie, though. Bitter bitchiness, I'm guessing.

Totally. She's getting rightfully roasted on Reddit and social media especially as she told him he had her vote two days before final tribal.

Also, the immediate aftershow has proven way too raw and painful. Felt bad for Charlie.

Look for the Katie Britt sketch on SNL this weekend.
:-|| You beat me to it. I came here to post that I would have been really impressed if you had predicted:
Spoiler:

Scarlett Johansson.
Didn't see that one coming!

👍👍👍
#5!

People Lost Their Marbles Over Sydney Sweeney's Hooters SNL Sketch, But It Didn't Even Crack The Top 5 This Year
What do you think cracked the Top 5?

8. Sydney Sweeney's Hooters
5. Mikey Day’s Biden SOTU/Scarlett Johannson's Senator Katie Britt
4. Bad Bunny and Pedro Pascal in drag, “Protective Mom 2"
3. Nate Bargatze in Washington’s Dream
2. Pete Davidson's "I’m Just Ken” parody
1. Beavis and Butt-Head/Heidi Gardner loses it

Not going to argue with the ranking, but they were all good ones!

Maybe I should start a "doh!" thread, but since there's not one, here's my contribution to "things right in front of your face that you don't notice."

Since all the shows we usually watch have ended their brief seasons and gone to "summer reruns," it seems harder to find interesting stuff to watch. It didn't seem like summer reruns used to be a problem, as you could always watch shows you missed that aired opposite your favourites. Only then did feel the "doh!" realization that nobody misses any shows they want to see anymore. Except for Useless, everybody just runs the DVR or catches them streaming. Obvious, right? But I hadn't actually thought of it.

SNL Fans Have Great Requests For Who Should Play Kamala Harris' VP Candidate, And Lorne Michaels Better Be Making Some Calls

Steve Martin
Tom Arnold
Jim Gaffigan
Danny DeVito
Jim O'Heir (aka Jerry from Parks and Rec)
John Goodman

Comments:
Bowen Yang :headscratch:
Melissa McCarthy - since she did such a good job playing Sean Spicer
Jason Alexander (Seinfeld)
Teller of Penn and Teller :headscratch:
Brian Doyle-Murray
Will Ferrell's Janet Reno was brilliant
Elmer Fudd :D

Steve Martin turns down offer from Lorne Michaels to play Kamala Harris’ VP pick Tim Walz on ‘SNL’: ‘I’d be struggling’

I think Lorne Michaels should give it a shot.

I've been enjoying After Midnight (TV series). It's a fake game show hosted by the delightful comic Taylor Tomlinson. A panel of 3 comics or other entertainers "compete" in a series of challenges that showcase their ability to ad lib, improv in a game show format. The points are subjective, inconsistent and basically meaningless. It's all about fast-paced wittiness keeping us entertained. The "winner's" prize is usually worthless.

All 5 weeknights after Colbert, CBS, 12:37 - 1:37 ET here.

Just watched the Pilot for:
High Potential

Follows Morgan, a single mom of three kids and how thanks to her exceptional mind, she is able to help to solve a crime as she rearranges evidence during her shift as a cleaner for the police department.
Morgan is played by the talented and still sexy Kaitlin Olson (The Mick, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

The writing is snappy and smart. I'll try to watch a few more episodes.

Well, it is a TV show, but it almost seems like this ought to be in the SPORTS section. One of the contestants on "Dancing with People You May Never Have Heard Of" is Ilona Maher. She's doing a really good job and seems very likeable. At 5'10" and 200 lbs, she is a bit larger than her partner Alan Bernsten but they make a good couple. Tonight they did the "Dirty Dancing" finale, complete with the famous lift at the end. There were also parts of their dance where she lifted Alan. During the judges comments she was funny, said, "I'll be honest, I don't usually get lifted..."

I knew it was unlikely from your post, but I was kinda hoping they'd collapse  I wonder how many fails there were in rehearsals.

Jimmy Kimmel has a brutal response to Trump calling him 'one of the dumbest human beings ever'

It's been six months since Jimmy Kimmel hosted the Oscars, but Trump is still clearly angry about him reading one of the former president's Truth Social rants while on stage.

Earlier this week, Trump held a rally where he randomly started ranting about Kimmel again, giving his own version of what happened at the Academy Awards before describing Kimmel as "one of the dumbest human beings ever."

"Isn't that sweet?" says Kimmel after playing the clip. "He's confusing me with one of his sons again."
The joke Kimmel actually made at the Oscars, after reading Trump's Truth Social rant out loud, was: "I'm surprised you're still up, isn't it past your jail time?" — and even though Trump seems convinced that Kimmel's wife, Molly McNearney, didn't want him to make the joke, Kimmel brings her out on stage to make it very clear where she stands.

"Donald, thank you for your support, and I'm glad I have your attention," she says in the clip. "Because one in three women currently in this country is living under an abortion ban, because you stacked our supreme court. Thanks to you, women in 21 states can't make their own choice about their own life and their own body. And 10 U.S. states make no exception for rape and incest. The party you run so bigly and so beautifully, the party that cares so much about motherhood, just blocked a bill that would protect our access to IVF. Women are dying, and good doctors are quitting, because they can't get, or give, the reproductive care women desperately need.

"So my advice for you is to shut up, and go away. Go to Mar-a-Lago. Spend all day, every day, cheating at golf and masturbating to Newsmax, and let a competent woman take over."
:o :---P :---P :---P

They showed a couple of those in the intro to their dance. She said "I don't usually get lifted" but Alan doesn't get lifted/flipped much either, so it was not an easy move to learn.
