U.S. President Joe Biden said in an MSNBC interview on Saturday that Israel’s threatened invasion of Rafah in southern Gaza would be his “red line” for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but then immediately backtracked, saying there was no red line and "I’m never going to leave Israel." ...
Immediately backtracking is a bit unusual, but this is not so different from decades of US govt policy - tut-tutting over Israel's actions (settlements anyone?) "in strong terms" while maintaining the unshakeable constant of diplomatic and military support. Joe merely voices the quiet part aloud.
... Asked whether an Israeli invasion of Rafah would be a red line for him with Netanyahu, Biden said: "It is a red line but I'm never going to leave Israel. The defense of Israel is still critical. So there's no red line (in which) I'm going to cut off all weapons so they don't have the Iron Dome to protect them." ...
... Japan is a critical U.S. ally. And India, one of the world's fastest-growing economies, is a vital partner in the Indo-Pacific despite differences on human rights....
I'm getting pretty torn up about Joe. He's always misspoke and had foot in mouth disease. I don't think his judgment is compromised but it's getting more painful and the trumpaloons are pouncing. Probably won't be getting better between now and November.
GoKamalaGo?

I'm still holding on to Michelle fantasies, but Kamala seems to have locked up the narrative without saying a word about it.
Stop it please, it is not going to happen.
Besides, it's really all about the money. Kamala is the only that can tap into the campaign's war chest and apparently that money goes further than PAC money because they get hefty discounted advertising rates.
If it's not Biden it's Kamala.

Can't Joe give the money to any campaign he wants?
I would hope, that much like me, defeating trump is the only agenda item that matters whether it's Joe, Kamala, Michelle, Newsome or someone else. Race and gender are secondary and good, bad or indifferent it just is not a factor.
Whomever the candidate is that has the best chance to win is the beginning and end of the conversation.
Even if he's technically ok mentally or physically, Biden is definitely NOT OK. He's not handling things well and seems incapable of sustaining the degree of "together" he needs. If he had been great before, the debate wouldn't matter so much. People would be like "what happened to Biden...really strange...not at all like him..." but since he was looking/sounding a bit off anyway (and constantly trolled by the repugs), then the debate was taken as representing a permanent and worsening condition. And he hasn't done much to help himself since. In somewhat of a flipflop of my previous view, I think he's toast.

Hate to admit it, but I'm leaning that way too. I'll happily give it another week or two, the damage is done. I trust trump to step on his own crank multiple times to tighten the race again and mitigate at least part of this debacle.
But sooner rather than later (very nervous congresscritters) are going to start fretting bigly that Biden is going to cost them the House. They may not be wrong.
Heck, they've already started.

Yeah, Joe can say what he wants about hanging tough and not giving up, but he knows that to win he's going to need everybody to support him - he can deal with rando nay-sayers or people who'd prefer another candidate, but he can't survive a bunch of his own party actively wanting to boot him.

Really, really bad time with huge consequences for all the oars not be be pulling in the same direction. Jefferies has to know that and has to wrangle that.
