Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston lead Fever to OT win over Dream

The Indiana Fever had their biggest comeback win of the WNBA season Sunday, rallying from a 16-point deficit to beat the Atlanta Dream 104-100 in overtime at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Caitlin Clark had 26 points, 12 assists and 5 rebounds for the Fever and became the first WNBA rookie to play a full overtime game (45 minutes) since Utah's Natalie Williams in 1999. Williams was in her first WNBA season then, but she was 28 and already a professional, having played in the short-lived ABL.

Clark is now the first WNBA player to average at least 25 points and 10 assists over a five-game span in league history. With her fifth 25 and 10 game of the season, Clark has tied New York's Sabrina Ionescu for the most ever in the league. Ionescu was the WNBA's No. 1 pick in 2020, and Clark was the top pick earlier this year.

Another WNBA record for Clark: She now has 10 consecutive games hitting at least three shots from behind the arc. That's the longest such streak in league history. And Clark is the third player in WNBA history to reach 300 assists in a season, joining Alyssa Thomas and Courtney Vandersloot....

"It was impressive we were still in the game at halftime," Clark said. "We felt like we were right there [even though] we really played a crappy half. I'm proud of our group. And then [Aliyah Boston] was incredible."

Boston, who was a No. 1 pick and the WNBA Rookie of the Year last season, had a career-high 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting, plus 13 rebounds and 5 assists, becoming the first player in Fever history to have a 30/10/5 game....

Indiana hosts the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Aces twice this coming week.

Fever's Caitlin Clark breaks WNBA's single-season assists mark

... Clark recorded her 317th assist of the season at the 4:55 mark of the second quarter when Kelsey Mitchell took her pass and scored off a drive. The rookie surpassed Alyssa Thomas' 316 dimes from last season. She finished the night with nine assists, giving her 321 assists on the year.

Clark's feat came two days after MVP front-runner A'ja Wilson set a record for points scored in a season. Wilson, who scored 15 points on Friday night, now has 971, putting her 29 away from becoming the first player to reach 1,000 points in a season.

Earlier this summer, Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese set a WNBA single-season record for rebounds (446). Reese's rebounding (13.1 RPG) and Wilson's scoring (27.0) averages are both on pace to set league records, and while Clark leads the league with 8.4 assists per game, Courtney Vandersloot's 2020 average of 10.0 assists appears it will remain safe as the WNBA single-season record....

According to ESPN Research, Clark has led her team in assists 34 times this season, extending her WNBA record. She has also had at least five assists in 25 straight games, tying Vandersloot in 2021 for the second-longest streak in WNBA history; Vandersloot owns the record with 40 straight across the 2018-19 seasons....

For the Aces, Wilson finished with 17 rebounds, her WNBA-record 11th 15-15 game of the season....

The Aces are the only team the Fever did not beat this season, though Friday's result was the closest game of all four and narrower than their 11-point loss on Wednesday. Indiana's back-to-back losses were its first since late June....

Aces' A'ja Wilson first to score 1,000 points in single season

Wilson, who turned 28 last month, is averaging a league best 27.0 points, plus 12.0 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 2.3 assists while shooting 51.9% from the field. Her season scoring average is the highest in WNBA history; she's clinched that record even if she doesn't score in the Aces' last two games....

Wilson's current streak of double-digit scoring games is now 50, the longest in the league. She also had a 53-game streak of hitting double digits in scoring from August 2019 to August 2021.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark recalls Seimone Augustus being the first WNBA player she ever met when she went to a Minnesota Lynx game as a child.

On Sunday, Clark set the WNBA rookie season scoring record, previously held by Augustus, and called it a full-circle moment....

Clark now has 761 points in 39 games, so there is the caveat that Augustus -- who will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in October -- set her mark of 744 points in 2006, when the WNBA season was 34 games.

Regardless, it was a big afternoon for Clark, who had a career-high 35 points, and the Fever, who secured the No. 6 seed in the playoffs. Indiana is 20-19 and will finish the regular season Thursday at Washington....

Clark and teammate Kelsey Mitchell (30 points) each had six 3-pointers against the Wings. It was the third time in WNBA history that two teammates hit at least six 3s in the same game, and the first time since 2010....

Clark is averaging 19.5 points, a league-high 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds. She set the WNBA single-season assist record Friday (breaking the mark of 316 set last year by Connecticut's Alyssa Thomas in 40 games).

Clark, who had eight assists Sunday, now has 329 on the season.

Sunday was Clark's fourth game with at least 30 points and 5 assists, tying Ogunbowale (2019) for most in a rookie season. It was also the ninth game this season in which both Clark and Mitchell had at least 20 points. The Fever are 7-2 in those games....

WNBA-record crowd sees Clark, Fever drop season finale to Mystics

Sika Kone scored a career-high 20 points and the Washington Mystics pulled out a 92-91 win over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Thursday night before a record crowd of 20,711, the largest in WNBA history.

The Mystics (14-26), who led by 16 points entering the fourth quarter, began the regular-season finale with a shot at the final playoff spot, but that hope ended when the Atlanta Dream (15-25) won at New York to secure the No. 8 seed....

Indiana (20-20) had already locked up the No. 6 seed and pulled its starters midway through the second half....

The record attendance was made possible by the game's being played at Capital One Arena, which is not the Mystics' usual home. Washington plays at Entertainment & Sports Arena, which has a capacity of 4,200....

Aces' A'ja Wilson sets WNBA single-season rebounding record

With seven rebounds in Tuesday's 85-72 win over the Seattle Storm, A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces surpassed injured Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese for the WNBA's single-season rebounding record.

Last week, Wilson broke the WNBA's single-season scoring record, and on Sunday she became the first player in league history to reach 1,000 points in a single season.

"It's a blessing," Wilson said. "This league is tough, so if my name can be in the record books in some sort of way, it's a blessing. So that's cool."...
