2024 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Great minds . . . :D

More than 700 high-ranking national security officials endorse Harris

... “Vice President Harris has all the leadership qualities needed to be a strong commander in chief. She’s prepared. She’s strategic. She’s understands all sides of an issue,” retired U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Michael Smith told The Hill. “We saw as much during the debate.”

“As we’ve seen for nearly a decade, however, former President Trump has none of those qualities, and he has a scary authoritarian streak,” Smith, who is also the president of National Security Leaders for America, added.

The letter endorsing Harris consists of 741 former high-ranking national security officials, including 233 general and flag officers. Among those 741 officials are 15 four-star generals, 10 former Cabinet secretaries and 10 service secretaries as well as leaders who served in Republican administrations....

This endorsement comes after more than 100 former GOP national security figures endorsed Harris earlier this week. That letter cited Trump’s “demonstrated chaotic and unethical behavior” as president as reason to support Harris, who they say “possesses the essential qualities to serve as president.”

It may depend on the voter turnout and the degree to which attempted voter suppression has been successful. Probably a lotta people in Texas that just ainagonna vote fer no Black Democrat even if ol Ted is an asshole. But it looks like with the right circumstances and a bit of luck it could happen.

:---P , however:
Still:
RCP Average 8/24 - 9/23
Alsobrooks (D) 49.5
Hogan (R) 40.0
spread Alsobrooks +9.5

Nearly insurmountable, nearly
Hogan is a pretty good guy for a RepuQ, it's a shame he chose this race when the Senate majority is at stake.

Also, in Montana:
Tester campaign unveils list of "Republicans for Tester" in Senate race

However:
RCP Average 8/10 - 10/8
Sheehy (R) 51.2
Tester (D) 44.2
spread Sheehy +7.0

That's a shame, for Montana and for the country. Sorry

I think Hogan's abstention can only be seen as a slap to DonOLD's face, and he might have reasons unrelated to DonOLD where he can't vote for Harris, like policy. Plus, his vote won't matter in 2 to 1 blue MD.

I've generally defended polling as a usable tool, and understand that if they tell you there's a margin of error of 2 and either candidate wins by 1, then the poll wasn't "wrong". I also understand that the polls results will vary based on how the pollsters pick their poll pool and how their questions are framed. But here's a few things to consider for this election:

There have been a lot of new registrations since Kamala started running. Pollsters don't have access to any of those. In fact, anybody who turned 18 and registered during most of this year won't be on the lists available to pollsters. Pollsters like to count "registered voters" or "likely voters." The likely voters are thought to be a better pool. But they pick who's likely by who's voted in the past. That won't catch any newly registered nor any previous non-voters who are now mad about abortion or whatever. Most of the younger new registrations and the formerly non-voters are thought to be Kamala people.

So in theory, Kamala's people should be being undercounted in the current polls, unlike previous years when they undercounted Trump's. And the Dems have a much better ground game this year for a change. And still waay more money.

And yet, polls give half the voters in swing states to Trump.

I did my part, not that it really matters. But if 15 million voters decide to flip to Trump, maybe mine will make a difference. On the other hand, TV is relatively free of political ads.

Bueno.

I think it still matters, trump doesn't just need to be beaten.

He needs to be decimated.

California will proudly hold up its end. Currently Harris +24
And it's only that close because for some reason they let places like Bakersfield and Redding vote.

Shower thought.

No way is there going to be another debate.

Trump has put his eggs in on the batshit crazy conspiracy basket and Kamala would decimate him easily with simple facts on a national debate stage.

He'd never recover.
