Would you root for your NFL team to lose games if it meant they will get a higher draft pick?

“My” Raiders are currently 2-7 and are pretty much out of playoff contention. The team desperately needs a quarterback, and the hope is that they can get Shadeur Sanders or Cam Ward in next year’s draft. But in order to do that, they have to keep losing to ensure themselves of a top pick.

I’m kinda torn on this. It seems pretty gross to give up on your team’s season like that, but as my hubby (also a Raiders fan) said, this may be beneficial in the long run.

I don't root for losses. I just lose interest, like with the Panthers (who are going to beat out your Raiders for the #1 pick, anyhow ), and Raiders this year. But that's just me, it's not like our fandom makes a difference. Why don't you give being anti-LV a test drive on Sunday?

Tanking is a huge no no in the NFL, too much $$ riding on it every week. Besides, looking at their schedule I can only see one or two possible wins anyways.

They are tanked, but they do have competition with Carolina, the Giants and Cleveland.

I think if teams expect or hope for fan loyalty in down years they're gonna have to give each game their best effort. Enjoyment of football is somewhat a week to week experience anyway.

Oh, I agree. Plus, I think NFL teams do try to win. I was mostly referring from the fans’ viewpoint. That’s why I’m conflicted. I want us to get a top draft pick, but I also want us to win games - especially against the Queefs.
