Fools! Idiots! Suckers!
So California farmers were heavy for Trump, partly because they're in his "poorly educated" demographic and partly because they don't like Newsom. But they've got a lot of undocumented people working in their fields so you'd think they'd not be happy about the threatened "mass deportations." But in a great effort of total fantasy, they say "...they expect the president will support their workforce needs, either through a robust legalization program for workers already here or by leaving farms be and focusing enforcement elsewhere." Where and when did Trump or any of his henchmen ever say, imply, or hint at anything resembling a "legalization program"?
Imbeciles!

Easy pickings to be rounded up like cattle and paraded as a huge success story.
Maybe they'll photo op 'em and then turn them loose to go pick strawberries.

They may indeed. I'm pretty sure that if they could, Trump's immigration ghoul really would round up 15 million and stuff them in cattle cars and dump on the other side of (any) border. But they're going to find some legal and logistical problems with that. So I'm thinking they round up some, make life hard on some people, build some detention centers, publicize it widely and say "we did it." In the meantime, they will have frightened a lot, disrupted a lot and raised the price of food, raised the price and availability of construction, landscaping, and most any other service work.

His picks seem to be based on who will cause the most controversy taking all the spotlight off of himself.

Also, who the hell is paying for his "transition?"
He hasn't signed the Ethics Pledge so no federal funds for travel, offices etc. no national security briefing, heck probably no contact at all between administrations.
Why hasn't he signed it? One of the main answers is no ethics pledge, no FBI investigations for his peeps.

He knows his supporters are dumb enough to believe that the tariffs are paid by the foreign country.GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 7:32 pmBuckle up.
President-elect Donald Trump on Monday promised massive hikes in tariffs on goods coming from Mexico, Canada and China starting on the first day of his administration.
The move, Trump said, will be in retaliation for illegal immigration and “crime and drugs” coming across the border.
“On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. “This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!”

Yeah there are two "seasons" for avocados. During one, US-grown avocados are available, many coming from the "avocado capitol" near here in Fallbrook, but much of the year it's Mexican avocados. We mostly get avocados for .50-.90 cents. Occasionally from a farmer's stand for 5/$1. Expensive organic ones at the snooty shops might be $2.50. Nobody is going to be happy with an arbitrary and unnecessary 25% increase.GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 9:23 pmbannination wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 7:52 pm

Bet it'll be more than 25%.
There may be a fair amount of retaliatory shenanigans.

Plus, every time corporate America has a legit reason for raising prices it exceeds that legit reason because it can get away with it, just like with the post-pandemic inflation.

I didn't know it was 90%, but I probably would have guessed 75% just on what we get in the stores - here 20 miles from the self-named "avocado capitol" and the annual avocado festival in Fallbrook.

Presidential grift is a full go.
President-elect Donald Trump’s team submitted an ethics plan guiding the conduct of its members throughout the transition period that does not appear to include provisions for one key member of the team: the president himself
