I'm impressed that a 35 year old 6th round draft pick with a so-so career still has a job. That's a ton of lifetime money for mostly sitting on the bench.

Caveat: The Bills had probably pulled some starters, too.

Bills' Allen to start vs. Patriots to continue streak, then sit

... Since 2000, Allen has the 11th-longest start streak among quarterbacks and the longest active streak (Jared Goff, who will start a 51st straight on "Monday Night Football," is the next closest). Allen has started 104 consecutive games and has not missed a start since his rookie year despite dealing with a variety of injuries over the past six seasons.

Allen, 28, has led the Bills offense to the most points (509) and touchdowns (63) in franchise history. He has the fewest interceptions (six), fumbles (five) and sacks (14) -- behind an offensive line that is performing at a high level -- of his career....

Iggles! ...
Eagles' Saquon Barkley, on cusp of record, to sit out vs. Giants

... "He will probably be somebody that rests," (coach Nick) Sirianni said.

If so, Barkley will end the regular season 101 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's NFL record of 2,105 yards, set in 1984.

Whether he should have the opportunity to go for the rushing title was a hot point of debate in Philadelphia and beyond this week. The Eagles (13-3) have clinched the NFC East division title and are locked into the NFC's No. 2 seed, making the Giants game irrelevant from a playoff positioning perspective.

With a Week 5 bye, Philadelphia has played 12 straight games, which factored into the decision to sit some core players....

Sirianni said he spoke with Barkley. He did not reveal the content of those discussions but noted this team has "selfless guys that want to do what's best for the football team."...
Probably wise, 102 yards is never guaranteed, but still :( .

GO @Ravens 11-5 (-20 :o :lol: ) > Browns 3-13
That's the largest spread I've seen all season. If the Ravens win they win the AFC North. I love how they came from behind with 3 straight wins, including over the Steelers.
Lamar tops 4k passing yards this season in the 1st half with a 12 yd pass for a TD, 14-0. :clap:

8:00 PM ESPN/ABC/ESPN+
Bengals 8-8 (-2.5) vs Steelers 10-6
The Bengals have a very outside chance at WC #3. They need to win and see the Broncos and Dolphins both lose. I like both the Broncos and Dolphins more, in that order.
If Ravens win the early game, go Steelers. WC #1 goes to Houston, the #4 seed. Boo, LA Traitors, send them to the Bills or Ravens.
If Ravens lose the early game, go Bengals. The Steelers have a tiebreak edge over the Ravens in the AFC North.

Maybe they will play him after the outcry. I don't really have a strong opinion, but I can understand the decision to sit him. In order to best protect Barkley and get him the record Philly would have to play all of its healthy O starters for an entire game, just for a stat line. Is that wise?

Stat line?

It's a 40 year old NFL all time record.

It's the difference between "nice season" and immortality.

I understand, but the counterargument is that the Iggles would risk their shot for SB immortality for the sake of one man's stat/record/glory. Imagine the outrage if Barkley or another key starter got injured in what's a meaningless game for the team.

-0-? Glad I'm not deciding.

TV here:
4 daytime games on TV, yippee! Otherwise, several meaningless games today, as usual for the last weekend.

1:00 PM

FOX
Go @Buccaneers 9-7 (-14) > eliminated Saints 5-1
Beat the Falcons for the NFC South title. Then, host the Lions or the Vikings. Ouch :lol:

CBS
Go eliminated Panthers 4-1 > @Falcons 8-8 (-7.5)
Go home, Birds.

4:25 PM

FOX
Go Dolphins 8-8 > Kaaron and the eliminated MAGA Jets 4-1 (-1, seriously?)
I prefer the Broncos, but then want the Fins > Bengals. Good luck, O Really. Kaaron's last game ever? Good riddance, but I fear we may hear even more from him than now.

CBS
@Broncos 9-7 (-11) > Chiefs 15-1
Win and they snatch WC #3 to play @Bills.

Go football:
1:00 PM
Eliminated Bears 4-1 vs @Packers 11-5 (-9.5)
I like both. Good luck, GoCubsGo.

GO:

1:00 PM

DC 11-5 (-6.5) > @Cowboys 7-9
I don't care whether DC or GB wins WC #2, but I do hate the Cowboys.

4:25 PM
@Eliminated Raiders 4-12 > LA Traitors 10-6 (-7)
GoSteelersGo! GoJasmineGo! GoO ReallyGo!

Historic finale:
8:20 PM NBC/Peacock
@Lions 14-2 (-3) > Vikings 14-2. Go Motown!
Winner gets a bye, loser stomps the @Buccs :twisted:
