A common sense bill

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Your point of aligning this to steroids is on target. It is not so much about trans as it is about the physical makeup of males is so different from females.
You say "no so much about trans" and for sake of discussion I'll believe you, but I garon-tee for the majority of those pushing this issue, it's all about the trans.

I can't speak for others. As for me, I have no debate with those who choose "trans" if they are mature and capable enough to make that decision.
It's also all about the perceived partisan advantage, and hardly about competitors and locker rooms at all. The GQP and its adherents and cultists have banked on attacking relatively powerless groups for decades, all on behalf of the hetero male xtian White supremacy - Blacks, Jews, Latinos, women, gays, Muslims, immigrants, etc.

So Trump want to get rid of gender confirmation surgeries for minors, and made a big deal of his EO. OK - sounds like a big problem. How big is it? No real data is available for, like, last year, but it is available for 2019. So how many gender confirmation surgeries were done for minors 13-17, and how many under 13? Before you answer, consider how big an issue this is for repugs, and how big an issue Trump has made of it. Way bigger and more important than, say, cancer research, teen suicide, mental illness you would think, since those issues haven't been mentioned.

Minors 13-17
Spoiler:
About 38, and about a third of those was to treat effects of gynecomastia, a condition in males that results from an imbalance of estrogen and testosterone.
Under 13
Spoiler:
Fewer than 15, apparently all intersex

Thanks, clearly worthy of a mass RW freak out.

Hmm, what ever could we compare those numbers to?
GUN VIOLENCE ARCHIVE 2019
Evidence Based Research - since 2013

Number of Children (age 0-11)
Killed 211
Injured 485
Number of Teens (age 12-17)
Killed 795
Injured 2,345
More recently:
GUN VIOLENCE ARCHIVE 2024

Number of Children (age 0-11)
Killed 250
Injured 548
Number of Teens (age 12-17)
Killed 1,174
Injured 3,242
 Minor deaths are up over 29% in 5 years.

Of course, there's a mass RW freak out about that, too . . . oh wait.

Raphael Warnock Flips Qualification Questions Back On DEI-Obsessed Republicans
The Georgia senator knocked Republicans for failing to choose "country over party" with their support of Donald Trump's Cabinet picks.

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) on Thursday called out Republicans obsessed with attacking diversity, equity and inclusion efforts by turning the attention to their hopefuls for positions in the federal government.

“It’s Republicans who will have to decide if they’re going to choose country over party, choose the people that they were sent to represent over partisan politics. They failed that test miserably when it came to Pete Hegseth, even as they’re attacking diversity, equity and inclusion,” Warnock said of President Donald Trump’s defense secretary in an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes.

“I want to know what qualifies Robert Kennedy to be the chief public health officer of the United States of America? What qualifies the likes of Pete Hegseth to be the leader at the Pentagon? This is a disturbing moment in our country,” he added....
Good point, Rev Warnock. RW bigots have no proof that DEI leads to unqualified hires. Otoh, DonOLD's appointees may objectively be the least qualified in US history - KINO, Hegseth, Noem, Gabbard, etc

What say you, BRD's DEI-obsessed Republicans?
