Best chance the Padres have had for years (decades?) and #1 pitcher Musgrove is gonna have to get tommyjohn. And tomorrow they open NLDS against the dreaded Dodgers.

Damn, might as well be a Cubbie fan.

Lotta greed and selfishness going on there.
 It's like an episode of Dallas, ironically playing out in Texas even though it's a SoCal team.

He was one of those players who changed the complexion of any game he got on base. Too young. Too many athletes die young. One wonders if their confident mindset of being bullet proof never leaves them.

Every walk or single had the possibility of being a triple.

Sounds like he had health problems including severe asthma and sinus issues.

Cubbies have beaten defending champs Dodgers and playoff team Padres already. Are they for real or just a spring training fantasy?

Favored to win the central. -0-?

But that's why they play the games (what do I know, I thought they'd be good last year).

Love it! I’m not into baseball that much, but the video captures why it’s so popular.

So Trump wants the late Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame. Agree? Disagree?

Number one, I’m not sure why Trump feels the need to stick his nose in this situation. Baseball already decided that Rose bet on the sport and disgraced the game. Number two, I would be more forgiving of Rose if he came clean about his wrongdoing from the start. But he kept lying about it.

But in the end, I think it’s baseball fans who should get to ultimately decide. So I guess my question is for those of you who are passionate about the game.

"Passionate" would be a stretch, but as a casual fan, I think there's no question whatsoever that Rose should be in the Hall. Vote him in for his playing - include the scandal in his bio. Bet there are a lot of players in the Hall with not nearly the "Fame" or numbers as Rose.

As to Trump, there's really nothing he can do about it one way or the other, but it's nice he doesn't have anything more important or pressing to be dealing with.

Do you feel the same with Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Mark McGuire?

I am on the same page with Jasmine on Rose. He is an enigma to me. His records speak for themselves and were not enhanced. I don't think he has been voted into the HOF because he was such a jerk about it.

As for the other three - NO! Using PED's eliminates thme from consideration.

Also a casual fan here. I say no HoF for Rose. Betting on the game remains a bright red line that must not be crossed, and doing so merits every punishment available and the harshest degrees of them. DonOLD just confirms and even adds to my opinion.

I agree. I thought about asking your opinion (on Sosa), but didn't want to be the one to rip that bandage off.

It's looking like (Sammy) Sosa, Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, Albert Belle and Barry Bonds will never get into the HoF, nor do I think they should. Alex Rodriguez has an outside chance of getting in, but I hope he doesn't. Baseball's Steroid Era has created a Hall of Shame.
You forgot Roger Clemens.

And yep.
