I'll take the odds on not going to war with Denmark not even knowing what the odds are.
I hear your faith in your idol, but DonOLD refused to rule out military action when he was asked directly. That's sick. Then, "war" can also be seen as a metaphor for extreme pressure like targeted sanctions, trade restrictions, visa denials, etc.

Label his actions as you see fit. It will keep you busy for four years.
I understand you feel you have to defend anything Trump does because pretty much all the rest of us are so hostile, but let's say it wasn't Trump but just some future President - do you really think it's a good idea or reasonable action to pick an unnecessary fight with a long-time ally who has done nothing but go along minding their own business for decades?
I can't acknowledge I agree with everything Trump says. Vrede can confirm I have labeled Trump's renaming of the Gulf as silly.
I don't see Trump's rhetoric about Greenland as an opening to a different type relationship with Denmark and Greenland. He does not use typical diplomat speak. Give this time and there will be resolution, likely very peacefully.

Oh sure, it's probably just his usual bluster, but there was never any reason for there to be a "this" in the first place. It serves nobody well except Trump's ego.
No one can question the value of Greenland to a power. This bargaining could serve the Greenlanders well. I see no reason for the country to be a state, but maybe a territory. All must be voluntary.

DonOLD says, "Jump" and you ask, "How high?" A "territory" There is zero indication that the Greenlanders or Danes wish to volunteer for this, zero.
It can only be about resource theft, typical colonizer. The US has had a significant military presence there dating back to at least WW2. I've even been to the Thule Air Base on the northwest coast of Greenland. It was USAF at the time and is now United States Space Force base. It's moronic to threaten such a strong military ally.

Yeah I know. As far back as I can remember there were presidents of both parties as well as futile party candidates who all said "we ought to take over Greenland". Besides who in their right mind would want to join the Disjointed States of America right now?
A state with half the population of Henderson County?
Maybe the raccoon eyed juvenile minded moron and pathological liar will set his sights on Vatican City next.....he'll whine about the comical uniforms the Swiss Guards wear and lie that the Pope is censoring Catholics. Then he will be the "father of Vatican City" like he was the "father of IVF."

Just heard a TV weather dude refer to the "Gulf of America" without hesitation or irony. It does sound silly.

Saturday, 25% tariffs will be applied to Canada and Mexico, 10% to China. Trump has claimed that BRICs countries may possibly face tarrifs, as well as the EU.
To put things in perspective, I don't think we've ever levied all encompassing tarrifs on Canada to this extent in modern times. Only on very specific sectors.
There appears to be absolutely no reason for levying tarrifs on Canada and Mexico. He claims fentanyl. Outside of that. No. Reason. Canada is (was) one of our largest trading partners and an ally. Why!?

El Salvador's president has offered to "house in his jails dangerous American criminals" and accept deportees of any nationality, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Monday night.
...
Among those Bukele has offered to house in Salvadoran jails are "dangerous American criminals in custody in our country, including those of U.S. citizenship and legal residents."
Rubio added: "No country's ever made an offer of friendship such as this."

A satirical online petition proposing that Denmark purchase the state of California has gained significant traction, amassing over 200,000 signatures. Dubbed the "Denmarkification" campaign, the petition was launched as a response to former President Donald Trump’s past interest in acquiring Greenland, a Danish territory.
Trump’s Greenland Ambitions
... Ahead of his second term beginning on January 20, Trump indicated he would not dismiss the possibility of using military force to take control of Greenland, emphasizing its importance to national security. When asked whether he would rule out military action, he responded, “I’m not going to commit to that. It might be that you’ll have to do something. The Panama Canal is vital to our country. We need Greenland for national security purposes.”
Denmark Rejects U.S. Claim
... While she welcomed increased U.S. engagement in the Arctic, she emphasized that any involvement must be conducted in a manner that is “respectful of the Greenlandic people.”
Hah! She's even met DonOLD.
A Danish California?
... "Let's be honest – Trump isn't exactly California's biggest fan. He's called it 'the most ruined state in the Union' and has feuded with its leaders for years," the petition states. "We're pretty sure he'd be willing to part with it for the right price."
... Among the ideas proposed by campaigners are renaming Disneyland to "Hans Christian Andersenland" and integrating Danish cultural elements such as "hygge" into Hollywood. The petition also claims that Danish toy company Lego should handle diplomatic relations, as it has experience managing "children throwing tantrums over missing bricks."
Solvang as Denmark’s West Coast Capital?
Supporters of the initiative have suggested that Solvang, California—a town known as the "Danish Capital of America"—would serve as the natural capital if the deal were to go through. The petition further highlights the state's warm climate and scenic beauty as selling points for the Danish public....
Have you ever looked at a map and thought, "You know what Denmark needs? More sunshine, palm trees, and roller skates." Well, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make that dream a reality.
Let’s buy California from Donald Trump! ...
Why California?
... Avocado Toast Forever: California grows 90% of the U.S.’s avocados. That’s right – we’ll never run out of avocado toast. To protect the free world: Most people say we have the best freedom. Colossal freedom. Disneyland: We’ll rename it Hans Christian Andersenland. Mickey Mouse in a Viking helmet? Yes, please.
Why Trump Might Sell
And hey, we’ll even throw in a lifetime supply of Danish pastries to sweeten the deal.
As for the will of the citizens? Well, let’s face it – when has that ever stopped him? If Trump wants to sell California, he’ll sell California.
