That's what I was thinking. Whatever is dominating the TikTok conversation is where the youth will go. What's up with 45-64 year olds? I'd think there would be some level of disapproval.

I really think it's a combo of social media and smartphones becoming so ubiquitous. Everyone is connected 24/7 with the most batshit stupid content being piped into their minds. People are also just plain fucking stupid in this country and proud of it.

I often blame twenty five years of Fox News for the general stupidity of Americans. But since I don't do Tik Tok or Facebook, I have no idea if Fox gauges that stuff and parrots it or not. Plus since Fox came along there's been half a dozen or more new batshit tv channels....Newsmax and the like. It's a vicious sick circle of stupid. Hell, I still remember when Walter Cronkite was on the tv news every night and everybody agreed about what was true. I've never seen this kind of shit where millions believe bullshit. It's awful.

Mainstream news certainly isn't perfect, but they mostly do attempt to fact check, be truthful, have integrity and report accurately. But it actually takes a little effort and time to turn it on and absorb it.

Why bother when you can Tik-Tok some dude in front of a green screen who may or may more likely not watch real news, but will watch some other Tik-Toker, does no fact checking and tells you what he thinks and what to think in 7 minutes.

We want immediate gratification and we want it now!

We've been creating what passes for a middle class in China for fifty years. During that time we decimated our own. All for cheap labor. Plenty of people pointed this out during that entire time. They were all ignored. trump thinks he can magically fix in a short time what took fifty years to fuck up.

Unbiased professional journalists with integrity like Walter Cronkite no longer exist in this country. News has become entertainment value for ratings on both sides.
