I'm reminded that almost all autocratic movements eventually devour their own. America is showing itself to be a nation of cowards and bootlickers. All that tough talk about freedom and liberty was only that - talk and some made in china bumper stickers. Nothing more.
The word freedom has been diminished ever since Shrub used it in every other sentence as we invaded a country that had nothing to do with 9/11.

Not fake. One could ask whether PINO's comments to the fascist president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, about sending US citizens to El Salvadoran prisons is joking, but DonOLD's jokes have an unsettling way of coming true.
‘The Homegrowns Are Next’: Trump Promises to Send American Citizens to El Salvador in Harrowing Comments to Bukele
I'm sure that Bukele decided this independently

El Salvador’s President Refuses to Return Maryland Man Trump Accidentally Deported, Baselessly Calls Him ‘Terrorist’
Then:
‘Sick People!’ Trump Attacks ‘Low-Rated’ Kaitlan Collins in Oval Office Showdown Over Deported El Salvadoran Man
... The exchange began with Trump calling on Collins by remarking, “Let’s hear the question from this very low-rated anchor at CB-, at CNN. Low-rated!”
“Do you plan to ask President Bukele to help return the man who your administration says was mistakenly deported to El Salvador?” asked Collins with the El Salvadoran president, Nayib Bukele, sitting next to Trump.
Trump then handed the floor over to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, both of whom presented warped explanations of a Supreme Court decision ordering the Trump administration to facilitate the return of Abrego Garcia to the United States from an El Salvadoran prison, with Trump only joining in to argue that CNN was “totally slanting because they don’t know what’s happening.”
“That’s why nobody’s watching them,” he added.
Collins pressed on, repeating her question about whether the administration would request that Bukele send Abrego Garcia back and asking Bukele directly if he would send him back.
After Bukele answered that he wouldn’t “smuggle a terrorist into the United States,” Trump mused that “they’d love to have a criminal, you know, released into our country. They would love it. They’re- these are sick people.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Miller took turns rebuking Collins again, after which she noted that Trump had previously stated that he would abide by court orders to bring those wrongly deported back into the country.
“Why don’t you just say, ‘Isn’t it wonderful that we’re keeping criminals out of our country?'” retorted Trump. “Why can’t you say that? Why do you go over and over, and that’s why nobody watches you anymore, you know, you have no credibility.”

Abrego Garcia's friends and family must be crushed.
Aside: I tried to gain entry to a notorious El Salvadoran prison in 1986. We weren't allowed in, but even from the outside it was terrifying.

Pathetic. This, along with the destruction of the economy, are just distractions for what he's really doing....decimating the integrity of the US intelligence agancies and military. He's put a nutjob in as DNI, another nutjob at DOD, another nutjob as a newly invented agency. He's gradually replacing competent military and intelligence officials with bootlickers and ignorant hacks. All while saying "look over here."

ICE Agents Realize They Arrested Wrong Teen, Say 'Take Him Anyway'

Federal immigration authorities apprehended a 19-year-old in New York despite realizing he was not the intended target.
The young man, Merwil Gutiérrez, was later deported to El Salvador's notorious super prison, despite his family's insistence that he has no gang ties or criminal history.
His father, Wilmer Gutiérrez, is now searching for answers after his son was snatched by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
"The officers grabbed him and two other boys right at the entrance to our building. One said, 'No, he's not the one,' like they were looking for someone else. But the other said, 'Take him anyway,'" Wilmer told Documented, "an independent, nonprofit newsroom dedicated to reporting for immigrant communities in New York City."

A whistleblower's disclosure details how DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data

Guess we know one of the reasons DOGE is farming all of that dataThe new revelations about DOGE's activities at the labor agency come from a whistleblower in the IT department of the NLRB, who disclosed his concerns to Congress and the U.S. Office of Special Counsel in a detailed report that was then provided to NPR. Meanwhile, his attempts to raise concerns internally within the NLRB preceded someone "physically taping a threatening note" to his door that included sensitive personal information and overhead photos of him walking his dog that appeared to be taken with a drone, according to a cover letter attached to his disclosure filed by his attorney, Andrew Bakaj of the nonprofit Whistleblower Aid.

El Salvador VP states US is paying them to imprison Garcia
https://www.latintimes.com/el-salvadora ... ays-580968
This is something we already knew.
- US claims they can't retrieve Garcia. He's in El Salvadore's hands and there's nothing we can do
- El Salvador's president claims he can't send Garcia back to the US. That would be tantamount to human smuggling.
- El Salvadore's VP states the US is paying to keep Garcia imprisoned, that's why they can't release him
- van Hollen asks to see Garcia and is denied. El Salvador says they need a heads up
- van Hollen says he'll return at a later date. El Salvador says "no that won't work either". They state he needs approval from US embassy. I wonder if that'll happen.
Based on what has been said, seems like yes, the US could in fact demand his return. There are plenty of ways the US could apply pressure. We already knew this, but it's interesting to see events play out.
The point that will likely go over the bootlickers heads: this isn't so much about this one man, it's about the rule of law and the separation of powers in our system of government. You can't do things like this with impunity. There's a specific process we follow to prevent innocents from being wrongly caught up in the system. If you toss that out then this is no longer a nation of "liberty and justice for all", it's a nation dependent on the whims of one man.
Truly a master negotiator we have as president. He can't even negotiate a deal to release a man his administration is paying to keep imprisoned. The country of El Salvador more powerful that the United States I guess.
Seems like for an administration hell bent on cutting waste, returning the prisoner and no longer having to pay to keep him imprisoned would surely save us some money, no?

He has to follow the Faux News line on this, as well as all things trump. Notice how he totally dismisses the FACT this guy has never been charged with, much less been convicted, of a crime in the US or in El Salvador. He's in this prison based solely on an unproven allegation from an "informant." The "informant" bullshit was the same thing Comer tried to use (with the Smirnoff guy) to impeach Biden. That "informant" was later charged with lying to the FBI and tax evasion. He's in a federal prison. The trump DOJ is attempting to drop his charges and let him out. I wonder what supplicant thinks of that case......but I don't wonder for long because I know he's parrot the Faux News line on that matter as well.Whack9 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:17 amIf Trump smacked your spouse in the face, I'd imagine you'd fall down on your knees and thank him for blessing you with his time and tell your spouse to apologize for being in the way of his hand.Supsalemgr wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:03 amI hope the left keeps on with this outrage. 5. Intelligence reports found that he was involved in human trafficking.
7. He claimed fear of being returned to El Salvador because he would be persecuted by MS-13's rival gang, Barrio-18.

Garcia came here from El Salvador when he was 16. After coming here, he was granted legal protection by a federal court which was intended to ensure he was not deported back to El Salvador. The court found that Garcia had been a victim of gang violence and would be in danger of being killed if he were deported. The man was deported illegally by the trump administration in violation of an existing federal court order that was over ten years old. The administration even admist he was wrongly deported, blaming it on "an administrative error." So, not only has the administration violated an existing federal court order of protection covering Garcia; they've also so far defied a unanimous Supreme Court decision. Garcia is not the criminal here (he had for years been covered by a federal court order of protection) but the trump administration is. Incredible how some idiots just cannot understand this. It is not hard to understand.
