Dumb headlines thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

If you knew him only from KISS, Gene Simmons would be "unrecognizable" ... except the tongue might give you a clue.

Simmons has had noticeable plastic surgery. Not sure whether it made him look more or less recognizable.

Willie Nelson, on the other hand, has been instantly "recognizable" for over a half century. Pic from last night's SD concert with Bob Dylan.

Image
:D That's because he already looked "old" 50 years ago. I think the '60s were a little rough on him ;) . 1975, 42 years old:

Another one that's not necessarily dumb, but majorly misleading:
"San Diego Is Ticketing Homeowners For Parking In Their Driveway"

No, it isn't. It's ticketing them for parking on the sidewalk, the problem being that after widening of the street and sidewalks over the years, the driveways aren't long enough to park their cars in. From the pics on the TV segment, though, it looks like they could clean the junk out of their garages and park there. Or park sideways/angled as some do. But they aren't getting tickets for "parking in their driveway."

Good on SD. Cars blocking sidewalks really messes with people with strollers, the mobility limited, children on bikes, etc.

Headline on the AJC site today:

"Child struck in Father’s Day shootout between 2 vehicles, Smyrna police say"

My first thought were the cars firing cannons at each other.

No, she didn't make a "rare public appearance" and she wasn't "stepping out." She was pumping gas into her car.

Who knows? But probably her. She looked in good condition and was driving her Mercedes around. And fershure she's not going to find a full-service station anywhere this side of Oregon. It all goes along with the click-baiting "unrecognizable" or some other crap when they see a celebrity doing the same things the rest of us do. Women in their 20s and 30s are working more than ever before

The headline and content of the article are erroneous, sexist and insulting. What they mean is that
Women in their 20s and 30s are EMPLOYED more than ever before

Students, mothers and "housewives" have always worked plenty. This article is especially egregious since it appears in The 19th News(letter), a reference to the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution giving women the right to vote.
:wtf:
Weren't the employed AND unemployed suffragettes "working" hard to get the 19th passed?

Wow.
He said he differed politically from his parents, describing them as on the left. He told the court he believed his father wanted to stop him from becoming a politician similar to President Donald Trump and that his father gave false statements in an unrelated civil case Justin Mohn brought in federal court.

Asked why he beheaded his father, he said he wanted to send a message to federal government workers to meet his demands, which included their resignation as well as the cancellation of public debt, among other things. He said he didn't do it out of hatred for his father or to cause trauma to his family. His mother, Denice Mohn, cried in court at the end of the direct questioning from his attorney.

Yeah, wow! RW nutjob, of course.
... During a competency hearing last year, a defense expert said Mohn wrote a letter to Russia’s ambassador to the United States seeking to strike a deal to give Mohn refuge and apologizing to President Vladimir Putin for claiming to be the czar of Russia. The judge ruled Mohn was competent to stand trial....
