I was never personally offended by it - I took it the same as an expression of "Happy Monday" or something - not specifically an encouragement to enjoy or celebrate over the deaths of military people. But he did get appropriately bashed by those who said Memorial Day isn't a day for "happiness" or celebration, but to honor the dead. Okfine. But it begs the question what is an appropriate greeting for the holiday, if any, when you meet up with your friends at the local street festival?
