The Supremes

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Looks like the cat pan thinks kids are somehow endowed with puberty level sexual attitudes. Probably because of something that happened to him when he was a kid. Why else would he want to groom kids to know about penises and vaginas? He must have had a horrid childhood. Probably breast fed by his father. sad really sad
:D It's weird. Based on her/his unread posts and unread quotes s/he has varied interests like we all do. However, if there's a conversation in the homophobic thread or if other chats touch on LGBTQ+ issues as is going on here, s/he will ALWAYS be there. Hmmm, being a closeted groomer would explain a lot. It's not only the obsession, but also the manic self-loathing that frames all of 1 FAT CAN's posts. Weird.

I had to take algebra 1 and 2, and in over a half century have found zero use for it. But I can imagine the response if my parents had told the school I wasn't allowed to take it because there's nothing about algebra in the Bible, or whatever.
I sort of have used algebra in my real life. One of its basic concepts is finding out what you don't know by using what you do know. So I've done that. But it could have been due to drugs instead of algebra. I forget. I do know that the way I mastered the trigonometry functions (sin, cosine, tangent) by just memorizing the phrase Oscar Had A Hairy Old Ass....sin being opposite over hypotenuse, cosine is adjacent over hypotenuse, and tangent of an angle is opposite over adjacent. ok

Haha haha, your parents are bigots and censors, haha haha.

Yeah, that'll be good for the kids. Btw, what's the usual reaction to banned books? Are people including kids more or less likely to seek them out?
Never answered.

Give me one reason why kids should be forced to participate in LBGQT curriculums?
Why should they be forced to participate in algebra?
That’s an evade.
Be careful what you wish for, Jasmine.
Thanks, Supreme Court! It's now my right to prevent my kid from learning about Trump. | Opinion

I have a deeply held religious conviction that, by divine precept, lying, bullying and paying $130,000 in hush money to an adult film star are all immoral acts.

So it is with great thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court and its recent ruling allowing Maryland parents to opt their children out of any lessons that involve LGBTQ+ material that I announce the following: Attempts to teach my children anything about Donald Trump, including the unfortunate fact that he is president of the United States, place an unconstitutional burden on my First Amendment right to freely exercise my religion....

I simply will not stand idly by while a taxpayer-funded school indoctrinates my children into believing a fundamentally dishonest and unkind person like Trump has the moral character to be president of the United States. My faith has led me to teach them otherwise, and any suggestion that Trump’s behavior is acceptable would undermine that faith.

Elly Brinkley, a staff attorney for U.S. Free Expression Programs at the free-speech advocacy group PEN America, said in a statement following the Supreme Court ruling in the Maryland case: “The decision will allow any parents to object to any subject, with the potential to sow chaos in schools, and impact students, parents, educators, authors, and publishers.”

Amen to that. I object to the subject of Donald Trump. Let the chaos ensue.

Yeah, I've never understood why right wing nutjobs obsess over the sexuality awareness of kids. They go crazy over alleged drag shows for kids, which miraculously vanished recently after a plethora of them for right wingers to whine about. Same thing with books and everything else they whine about; it's not kids objecting to any of this. It's right wing nutjobs adults who apparently have no idea that human sexual awareness does not even begin to manifest until about age twelve. But they quake in horror over what they suspect four and five and six year olds would think about their own ignorant whines. It's just stupid. But that's what Fox News will do to you after twenty five years of being brainwashed by it. sad

Today was a great day for the conservative cause. An underrated but really appreciated decision was giving parents the right to opt out their kids from reading LGBQT books. It’s absurd that this case even had to get this far. A big victory for parental rights!

CNN — The Supreme Court on Friday backed a group of religious parents who want to opt their elementary school children out of engaging with LGBTQ books in the classroom, Another Major Legal Win for religious interests at the conservative high court.

Great decision for deep logical thinkers like myself. Let's see... If I'm a Christian, I know Jesus drove out the money changers and the merchants from the temple. So to be a money changer, you have to know math. Algebra is also math. Therefore I can happily opt my kid out of algebra for religious reasons.

Even if one thinks this is a good decision for the specific case (LGBTQ's in books), it's going to have unintended consequences when parents start picking and choosing every book and topic their kid can be exposed to while getting their ummm "education."

As a member of the Church of Bodily Modification (it's real - look it up), I can opt my kid out of classes with books that feature non-tattooed people.

Sure, and there are those I'm sure who will say ours are frivolous ridiculous examples, but the rationale and legitimacy of them is directly in accordance with the upheld law.
