Sure, it should work that way, if law enforcement is acting upon probable cause and standard protocol. But ICE's job is no longer defined as simply finding and capturing violators - it's to intimidate and overwhelm. And because they can, they don't provide normal protocol on legal representation, and it would never be acceptable for them to just say, "sorry Manny, we thought you were Juan - have a good day."

Even Faux and Joe Rogan have reported citizens and legal residents being attacked.

Yeah, people such as himself manage to hold a strange set of beliefs:
1. All immigration offenses are equally egregious.
2. A guy without proper documentation milking a cow in Vermont is somehow a national security threat.
3. If a person is "ILLEGAL" their rights as established in current US law can and should be ignored.
4. When arrested, a 70-year old grandmother should be treated the same way as a 20-year old with a gun.
5. It's a good thing to deny legal representation of a person who is "ILLEGAL" even though they are legally allowed to defend themselves.
6. The "innocent until proven guilty" applicable to all other judicial actions can be ignored.
7. All arrests should be made by a group of large guys in full combat gear even if the person to be arrested is hanging drywall or picking strawberries.
8. Persons arrested should not only have their legal rights ignored, but should be treated with total disrespect and unnecessary force and cruelty.
9. In an effort to catch that cow-milker, ICE agents should be allowed to do things that would get any city or state cop or sheriff deputy fired and/or prosecuted and their employer sued.

Unless the law has recently changed, crossing illegally is not a misdemeanor. It's a civil offense and only becomes a criminal one if the individual crosses again after having once been expelled. So, SoupySales' seething hatred is largely applied to those who have committed the equivalent of a minor traffic offense.

Also, under current law requesting asylum negates any illegality to the crossing and should protect the immigrant from expulsion until they've received a hearing in front of an immigration judge.
