Nobody was going to prosecute him in office anyway. Even if historically it may have been legal, nobody did it. That's what impeachment is for, where in theory a miscreant president gets booted and then as a civilian may or may not actually be charged. Usually not. But no previous president has been such a blatant criminal before, and no Congress has ever been so cowed as to refuse to even criticize, much less impeach, a president who defies the Supreme Court. The US society is sick and Trump's election is a symptom. Congress is broken and the Supreme Court is corrupt. The US as we always believed it to be is gone and probably won't come back.

Yeah, depends of which (of them any) crimes. He can't be prosecuted for anything he does that is part of his duties, but that leaves a lot that could theoretically be prosecuted. But they won't. At this time, I'm at a loss to think of anything he could do that would get repugs to impeach (and remove) him. As ridiculous as it sounded at the time, now I doubt that shooting somebody on Madison Ave. would be enough to do it.
