What amazes me is these people are burning the symbol of the country they found it worth to enter illegally to be part of. If they don't like our laws, they should not come.

Were you a "America-Love it or Leave it" person back in the day? The country was literally founded on protest and by rabble-rousing protesters. When the normal channels (e.g. petitioning the King) aren't working, protest is what's left.

It's a deflection, but it is true that the previous admin and the Dems did not think through the ability of MAGA and the GQP to stir up Americans with a racist and xenophobic campaign . . . by 1.5%. Yeah, that's what always pissed me off about Republicans lying about illegal immigrants voting. What nonsense. Just think; if you're in a country illegally, are you likely to seek out authority and register to vote, give them your name, address, etc, or you more likely to do whatever you can to avoid authorities? Hell, they don't even try to get drivers licenses. But I do remember years ago a NC DMV worker was fired and charged with selling them to immigrants. Republicans depend on the ignorance of their audience and it's worked astonishly well lately.

Just think; if you're in a country illegally, are you likely to seek out authority and register to vote, give them your name, address, etc, or you more likely to do whatever you can to avoid authorities? I think a few states allowed the undocumented to get driver's licenses. Not sure if that's still true now that Real ID is the standard.

So you still have to expose yourself and I don't know how many people take advantage of it. Also, it may not be good out of state and you definitely do t want to use it with any federal people.

The CHPs and local cops have to accept the AB60, and generally aren't going to turn them in just for being undocumented. But it says on the face of the license not for Federal ID and cops in other states might not let them go. But I'd still think their chances are better using the license than driving unlicensed. It's not a "RealID" and they can't get on a plane and it doesn't get them a voter registration, but at least they can get to work and back.
