Gun Legislation

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Seen elsewhere: Having Charlie Kirk killed is a really extreme way for Trump to distract from the Epstein Files.

:o
Don't know about having him killed, but the distraction part is true.

Several TV "experts" are griefing the shooter for hitting the neck rather than the head. They may be correct, but c'mon, the shooter accomplished her/his mission with a single shot, the result was spectacularly gruesome, and s/he may have gotten away with it. They're reaching for minutiae in order to feel superior.

Aside: It's bugged me for years that Charlie ruined a great fictional surname.

None of us really know, but they're saying that missing the head proves that he isn't an expert sniper. Could be, but I'm pretty certain that a .30 caliber round to the neck from 175 yards is also nearly 100% fatal.

I don't really care to re-watch the video to see if he leans forward or something such when he was shot.

Not really. If the shooter was aiming for the head s/he just missed.

Trump: we have to beat the hell out of radical left lunatics... But non violently.

https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/1 ... -390889840
President Donald Trump on Thursday told reporters that “we just have to beat the hell” out of “radical left lunatics,” following the killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

The president, speaking on the South Lawn of the White House as he was heading to New York City, was responding to a reporter who asked what the president’s message was to conservatives who feel targeted by “radical groups.”

Trump, who also had some more measured comments about Kirk’s killing during the roughly 10-minute exchange with reporters, said: “We have to be brave in life, in all fairness, we have a life. I probably shouldn’t be out here talking to you in all fairness but we will be brave. And we have a great country. We have radical left lunatics out there and we just have to beat the hell out of them

...

The president added in a separate answer that he would urge his supporters to follow a nonviolent path in response to the shooting. “He [Kirk] was an advocate of nonviolence,” Trump said. “That’s the way I’d like to see people respond.”
Nothing is known about the motive yet. For all we know the murderer could've been irate because Charlie Kirk cut him off in traffic. Unlikely, yeah, but those in power should be calling for restraint and calm and allow the facts to be uncovered. Instead they're using Kirk's murder as a tool for their own selfish ends. Where are all of the adults?

https://newrepublic.com/post/200363/aoc ... kirk-death
Conservative officials, talking heads, and influencers have all been calling for war against the left over the past 24 hours, as if they were given marching orders.

“The left is the party of murder,” Elon Musk wrote. “THIS IS WAR,” posted right-wing social media account Libs of Tiktok. “They’ve declared war,” political commentator Gunther Eagleman weighed in. “They are at war with us,” Fox host Jesse Watters contributed. “Whether we want to accept it or not, they are at war with us. And what are we going to do about it?”

President Donald Trump himself put out a four-minute-long video announcement Wednesday, stating that “radical left political violence has hurt too many innocent people and taken too many lives. Tonight, I ask all Americans to commit themselves to the American values for which Charlie Kirk lived and died.”
In an alternate reality: The president, members of Congress, political pundits, political influencers: "Inflammatory political rhetoric has reached unacceptable levels. We all need to do our diligence to tone things down and learn to respect one another regardless of ones political affiliations and opinions... a house divided cannot stand... We all need to learn mutual respect because at the end of the day we're all Americans and though we may disagree on the methods, we all ultimately agree on seeing our country and communities succeed..."

Or something.

Also, I just read an article that they captured the murderer, so that's good:

https://apnews.com/article/charlie-kirk ... d5e0228fed
A 22-year-old man from Utah was taken into police custody Friday in connection with the killing, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. Authorities identified the suspect as Tyler Robinson, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation.

Otoh:
Rep. Clay Higgins
(Proudly representing #LA03 in the U.S. House of Representatives....)
I’m going to use Congressional authority and every influence with big tech platforms to mandate immediate ban for life of every post or commenter that belittled the assassination of Charlie Kirk. If they ran their mouth with their smartass hatred celebrating the heinous murder of that beautiful young man who dedicated his whole life to delivering respectful conservative truth into the hearts of liberal enclave universities, armed only with a Bible and a microphone and a Constitution… those profiles must come down.
So, I’m going to lean forward in this fight, demanding that big tech have zero tolerance for violent political hate content, the user to be banned from ALL PLATFORMS FOREVER. I’m also going after their business licenses and permitting, their businesses will be blacklisted aggressively, they should be kicked from every school, and their drivers licenses should be revoked. I’m basically going to cancel with extreme prejudice these evil, sick animals who celebrated Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
I’m starting that today.
That is all.
:crybaby: :violin:
Carmine Sabia

I hear you Rep. Clay Higgins, but Charlie Kirk would not have wanted that.

I do not want that.

Conservatives do not want that.

Charlie believed in free speech. Even vile speech.

Popular speech does not need to be protected.

If we start policing speech where does it end?
Oh look....

Government using a tragedy to grab power.... Who would have thought????🙄🙄🙄

Charlie Kirk would be the first to call you out on how stupid this is.

The man opened the mic for all to speak, even if they hated his guts...

For you to silence people in his name is a desecration to his legacy
ChoppergirlMT

This is exactly what Charlie Kirk stood against. He was not for censorship, he was for freedom of speech and open debate. Perhaps highlighting those post which you are offended, opening the conversation and let public debate ensue is what is needed. As someone who lost accounts for petty political reasons, I kindly disagree with you.
:D Sounds like she's posted to CPF.
NO. Free speech is sacred. Let the world see them for who they are.

Such a red flag that you would sacrifice this freedom in order to virtue signal here. Really troubling.
Silencing people is not the answer. Charlie was a champion of the First Amendment and would not support this. We must protect ALL speech, even speech we don’t like.
Remarkably dumb not to mention tone-deaf to Charlie Kirk’s own mission and legacy.
Lament the murder, not the murdered.

I wonder if Kirk would have felt the same if he knew that he was going to be the sacrifice we pay for having the Second Amendment.

I oppose ALL political assassinations as being ineffective and counter-productive. If this was a lefty there will be a nasty backlash.
