Gun Legislation

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Here's another interesting article on this phenomenon:

https://www.garbageday.email/p/charlie- ... -by-a-meme

...

Made even more confusing by a new nihilistic accelerationist movement that delights in muddying the waters for older people who still adhere to a traditional political spectrum. Many young extremists now believe in a much simpler binary: Order and chaos. And if you are spending any time at all trying to derive meaning from violent acts like this then you are, by definition, their enemy.
Nihilism, basically.
Ugh :problem: I suppose my profession would be seen as pointless to them . . . until they needed us.

Sorry for another movie reference, but I'm reminded of 1999's excellent Fight Club, predating your irl examples by 20 years. Chaos for its own sake culminating in a massive act of apolitical terrorism. I never read the 1996 book so don't know what deeper themes were explored.

The first rule of Gamer Symbology Club is you don't talk about Gamer Symbology Club.

Coincidentally (probably), the Brad Pitt character is named Tyler Durden.

Finally, a group willing to step up and acknowledge being the soil in which shooter Tyler Robinson sprouted, and take responsibility for it - southern Utah ammosexuals.
At a gun show in Utah, sadness that 'one of our own' is accused of killing Charlie Kirk

... “We’re embarrassed,” said David Martin, who said his family spends tens of thousands of dollars a year on guns and ammunition, and who had placed “Utah Militia” patches on a protective vest he wore — and on a vest the family Rottweiler sported....

“Utah, of all places,” he said.

“Every Utahn that I’ve spoken to is just sad,” Martin’s wife, Catrina, said. “It’s just heartbreaking that one of our own children did that.”

... “It’s sad for all America,” said David Mendoza, who lives in nearby Virgin and attended the gun show, where vendors sell a wide range of guns for recreation and self-defense, as well as T-shirts, ammo and other gear. “It was extremely bad that it happened here in Utah. Probably every household in the state of Utah has guns.”
:bs:
People raised right are taught to handle guns and differences with respect, Mendoza said, and from what he has heard of Robinson’s family, that appears to have been the case in his home as well.
Registered Republicans.
“I don’t understand,” he said.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox shared his constituents’ horror at the murder of a political activist who was on a college campus to debate his viewpoints. In comments after Robinson was arrested, the governor said he had prayed “that if this had to happen here that it wouldn’t be one of us — that somebody drove from another state, somebody came from another country.

“Sadly, that prayer was not answered the way I hoped for, just because I thought it would make it easier for us if we could just say, ‘Hey, we don’t do that here.’”
But you do.
That it did happen in Utah, a state that many locals consider especially moral and family-oriented given the outsize influence of the Salt Lake City-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, suggested to some that families need to reassess their methods.

“What it really comes down to is the family unit — teaching our kids to be decent human beings and respect people,” said Brendon Bosshardt, who traveled to the gun show from his central Utah home in Redmond.

“It’s not the guns (that kill),” Bosshardt said. “It’s the jackasses behind them. We lack parenting.” ...
Great minds:

"Public records reveal that Tyler Robinson’s parents are registered Republicans...."

So, whatever Tyler's personal politics became, we can chalk it all up to bad parenting. :D

It's your peeps that are making the baseless claims that Robinson was left wing fringe and your *president that claims there's an epidemic of left wing assassination violence when all the facts point to the complete opposite.

Don't blame us for de-arming lies with facts.

I don't think Republicans are responsible for this particular shooting, but I do see that right wingers, including Republicans, are responsible for the majority of divisive hate-mongering rhetoric, based largely on lies, from the basement dwelling trolls all the way to the White House.

Another! Goddamn. Once again, no coherent political ideology of the murderer has been identified. They're using Kirk's murder as a tool.

IF Robinson doesn't talk we'll probably never know, but I'd guess there's a hodgepodge of logic and messaging that rattled his brain from right wing, left wing, social media and some sort of weird ass gaming community influence.

Exactly.

SoupySales is so incredibly easy to bait. I am CLEARLY mocking the Republicans who blame "bad parenting" every time a non-White does bad things. Let it be a White from a GQP household, though, and suddenly he's a "confused young man".

His use of the word "hatred" is also interesting. Charlie was all about hate for others and their beliefs, for years.

USMC, military journalist, Ohio State BA summa cum laude in political science and philosophy, Yale Law and The Yale Law Journal, website writer, wildly successful author - all that and he never learned the definition of "statistical fact". :headscratch:

Do you suppose they all get together on Monday mornings and agree on the LIES of the week to befuddle MAGA with?

Conservative ammosexuality leads to ammosexual actions.
More from the same article:
... But Martin, the man in the “Utah Militia” vest, said he’s not worried about any moves to restrict gun rights.

“Not this time,” he said.

That’s because Kirk was beloved by so many gun owners, Martin said, and his death has riled them beyond the point where they could be suppressed.

“They’ve taken one of ours, and we’re done,” Martin said. Attempting to restrict guns now would ignite “a tinderbox,” he said.
There it is, any relevant legislation duly enacted through our democratic process will be met with terrorism. So says an ammosexual southern Utahn, possibly Mormon, likely GQP.
