Tree Hugger Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Researchers make concerning discovery about factor linked to Alzheimer's disease: 'I'm still really surprised by it'

Microplastics, again.

Along with the atmosphere have we already poisoned humanity beyond hope of recovery? :(

Trump just opened the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, risking fragile ecosystems for short-term gain.
I cant wait for his obituary
We have to stop them it’s gonna destroy everything that has been protected and also it will destroy more of the planet
He’s running the country just like he ran his businesses that he bankrupted.
He cares about nothing but more money for him, his family and friends. Congrats to all who voted him. Great job.
How can he do this by himself without any congressional approval!?
Good question. Much of our 40-year+ fight has been in Congress.
Once these places are gone, we won’t ever get them back

Scientists issue dire warning as iconic American city sinks into the sea: 'Human intervention has made it worse'

Maybe I'm crazy and too pessimistic but I think New Orleans is done, and any further investment in it is a certain waste. We may be able to save some of our cities - Miami Beach? Manhattan? - but the Big Easy will be too hard.

Yeah, N'awlins was done when they "drained the swamp" south of the city. What used to be protection against storms turned into a sluiceway. But really, with the increased strength of storms for reasons not in New Orleans control, they probably would be doomed anyway. Sad.

It escapes many that without the Mississippi River being diverted just south of Natchez the river would maintain a straight line between Baton Rouge and Lafayette into the gulf. There would be no river through BR and NOLA.
