New week:
Monday, December 29
2:00 PM
ESPN
Birmingham Bowl
App State (5-7) > Georgia Southern (6-6, -8.5)
Mediocre Bowl #3. App State lucked out getting a Bowl with that record, first sub-6 wins that I've noticed. GoHomeysGo!
10-29  0-1 this week.

Tuesday, December 30, 2025

5:30 PM
ESPN
Music City Bowl, Nashville (no fair)
Tennessee (8-4, -3.5) vs Illinois (8-4). Go football.
Semi-local for me vs one of Chicago Dog's teams.
Wow, furious TN 4thQ comeback cratered by an IL walkoff field goal from 29 yards GOOD! 28-30. CONGRATS, Chicago Dog!
Big Ten is undefeated.

9:00 PM ESPN
Alamo Bowl, San Antonio, TX (no fair)
Go 16 USC (9-3, -6.5) > TCU (8-4)
God of Glitz vs RW TX god
Good game, walk to OT TCU 27 yard FG, 24-24.
TCU won on an incredible play in a game filled with incredible plays, 27-30 1OT. :(
0-2 this week.

0-2 this week.

Go football:

12:00 PM ESPN
Tampa, FL
23 Iowa (8-4) vs 14 Vanderbilt (10-2, -4.5)
Good matchup. Was Vandy screwed out of a Playoff spot?

GO:

2:00 PM CBS
Sun Bowl, El Paso, TX
Duke (8-5, -3) > Arizona State (8-4)

3:00 PM ABC
Citrus Bowl, Orlando
13 Texas (9-3, -7) > 18 Michigan (9-3)
Was Texas screwed out of a Playoff spot?

7:30 PM ESPN
CFP Quarterfinal at the Cotton Bowl Classic, Arlington, TX
10 Miami (11-2) > 2 Ohio State (12-1, -9.5 ouch)

"Was (name) screwed out of a Playoff spot?"
As long as that's a reasonable question, the answer will always be "yes"

You don't usually get that question in basketball, unless it's over some bad foul call causing a loss in a critical game.

I could probably argue that the powers that be consider that ambiguity and slippery criteria to be a feature, not a bug.

To be fair, college and pro basketball qualify more teams for their Playoffs. That said, I agree with you. I was just adding some drama to today's games, and perhaps predicting the whining after them (Notre Dame). If CFP wants to expand to 16 or 24 teams, fine with me. Meanwhile, I'm happy with the 12 team format and think the eventual "best" is likely among the 12.

Doooook, nice route and pass!
EDIT, 2 minutes later: Doooook, D stand on 4th down, short drive, 14-7.

Nah, Vandy couldn't even beat Iowa, 34-27.

GO:

2:00 PM CBS
Sun Bowl, El Paso, TX
Duke (8-5, -3) > Arizona State (8-4)
28-24, highest scoring Sun Bowl 1st half ever, highest scoring Bowl 1st half this year. "Defense is optional." :D
Dook scored last, 42-39! Well over 1000 yards of total offense.
:happy-cheerleaderkid:

3:00 PM ABC
Citrus Bowl, Orlando
13 Texas (9-3, -7) > 18 Michigan (9-3)
Was Texas screwed out of a Playoff spot?
Hooked 'em, 41-27. Texas earned some whining rights.

Butt-hurt Notre Dame opted out of the postseason.

7:30 PM ESPN
CFP Quarterfinal at the Cotton Bowl Classic, Arlington, TX
10 Miami (11-2) > 2 Ohio State (12-1, -7.5 ouch)
UPSET!
I almost crowed too early, sorry. OSU 14-10 in the 2nd half. Nice final drive by the 'Canes. 24-14. Congrats!
3-0 today, 3-2 this week.

GO 10 Miami (12-2, -3.5) > 6 Ole Miss (13-1)
Odds are ACC > SEC, interesting.

Friday, January 9, 2026
7:30 PM
ESPN
CFP Semifinal at the Peach Bowl, Atlanta
GO 5 Oregon (13-1) > 1 Indiana (14-0, -4)
Big Ten's year.
