Quick Poll - help me out?

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Quick Poll - help me out?

Unread post by bannination »

The data will obviously be biased, but that's ok, not my fault the cons are chicken. I'd ask it on CPF, but they'd probably ban me for being all logical or something.

If you had to pick between Fox News and BBC for news, which?
Do you lean more Republican or Democratic?

Answer Format:
Fox News or BBC
Republican or Democratic

Thanks, answers will help me immensely with a stats project. :-||

BBC- no contest. I am left of center. And I'd pay more attention to TASS than FUX.

BBC
Democratic
I will say that if I were a heroin addict, I might score a daily fix of Fox because it's such a downer. I would also prefer being in a minor automobile accident over being forced to watch Fox on a daily basis.

It's a dividing metric used in date notation. It means, "Before the Black Communist," and refers to events that took place before Jan. 20, 2009. A cruder form sometimes seen, in places like the CPF, is noted as "BNP."

The British Broadcorping Castration.

The current main headline/story is "US political donation limits quashed". On the CNN and Fox News main pages the same story just a link buried among the noise, not even a secondary story.

Fox News
Neither

I've been a Fox News viewer since I was a teenager. When I had cable it was (still is) my go to channel for entertainment.

Yup. A lot of people watch The Daily Show for news, and Fox News for humor.

Fox News is obviously sensationalist.

I'm not going to lie, I like Shep Smith in a totally no-gay sort of way. I think he's a decent news anchor (or host? is that the right word?). At least on the outside he seems somewhat neutral. I also like watching the Five. At least they have a token democrat in the form of Bob Beckel.

Nevertheless, they actually do present news just with a massive spin most of the time because it's obviously a conservative news channel and they're there to gain ratings and make money. It's a business.

I'm not stupid and can differentiate between obvious hype and facts. Something unfortunately many probably cannot do (my in-laws). But alas, after all it is a TV channel. When people watch TV they usually want to tune out. Sensationalist Hype garners more ratings than lucid facts.

Want real news? To the internet!

Edit: Oh yeah forgot to mention my online goto news site is cnn.com and BBC news RSS feed, but I've become a bit disgusted with the back-to-back non-stop balls-to-the-wall Malaysia Airlines coverage on CNN when more newsworthy things have been going on. But I guess that's what got the most hits, right?

We did that as a country.

On most cable companies Fox News used to be opt-out. You got it automatically with cable, and you had to explicitly remove the channel in your programming change requests if you didn't want it.

In 2009 the talking heads at Fox kept insulting Canada and its troops in Afghanistan. And so the cable companies changed Fox News to opt-in. You need to explicitly add the channel in your programming change requests in order to receive the channel.

Few have.

Congratulations; I'd like to buy whoever made that decision a drink. Salute.

I don't watch either, but I'd go with the BBC. Don't a lot of public TV
stations run it in the late evening? I watch ABC News with Diane
Sawyer, the last bastion of American exceptionalism. America Strong
and all that junk.

Lean Democratic, though I've never voted for a Democrat or Republican
in my life, and won't start now. ;)

I don't watch a lot of tv but it's hard to avoid some of the more loony stuff coming around. And I did that apolitical non participatory gig for about 20 years. I credit GW Bush for getting me up and off. I just couldn't believe the evident stupidity being implemented; after he won a second time, it almost made me crazy.

To me, it's a simple matter of math--one vote in an election with millions, hundreds of thousands,
or tens of thousands just doesn't make much of a difference.

It started out as a matter of indifference, then became a habit, then it became
a simple matter of numbers, one vote not counting for very much. My parents
didn't care very much about politics. From the available evidence I recall, they
were likely moderate Republicans, at least on election day. The other 364 days
of the year they didn't care. Sort of like people who only go to church a few times
a year for the biggies.

BBC and generally vote green or democratic
