Wingnutties out of control!

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Oh noes.... someone might post something against our world view!! horror!
It's not just that you *might* post something against their world view.

Nascarfan88 - or whatever he posts as now - will have the moderator ban you if you've posted something against his world view any time in the past, on another forum. Even if YOU were taking the conservative position, and he wasn't.

Their definition of conservatism doesn't include the moral courage to defend one's positions.

Yep, if anything, that was the most interesting result to me.

"We are disappointed by the government's decision, but hardly surprised. From the beginning, the government has pursued a politically driven vendetta against Congressman Grimm and not an independent search for the truth..."

Yeah, yeah, blame the Wesen.

I think Sarah Palin is trying to put The Onion out of business.

FTA:
She said later in her address that if “I were in charge” — a line that drew applause from the crowd — “they would know that waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists.”
I can't believe she brings that up, and the constitution in one speech. I guess the 2nd is the only one that really exists.

This is a big part of why I still consider the US to be a torture state.

It's not just that those responsible - from those in the White House down to the torturers - didn't end up with a noose around their necks.

It's not just that - setting aside prosecution - they're not even remotely considered pariahs. Heck, John Yoo is even teaching at Berkeley.

It's not just that once it was established that America was now firmly in the torture state category, the American people reelected those responsible. And that it wasn't even an election issue.

It's that the OPPOSITION party - the Democrats - refused to prosecute or even make it an issue, and Republicans are DEMANDING the return of torture. In the 2012 election cycle Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain demanded it. Sarah Palin demands it. Presumably the only reason Ron Paul didn't demand it is that he thinks it's an issue that should be left to the states. And it never became an issue. Not with the other Republicans, let alone the Democrats.

The torture program is at best on hold for the current administration. And I wouldn't place bets on even that.

This is WONDERFUL:

Spurious correlations

The Spurious Correlations engine takes publicly available data, and lets you discover spurious correlations.

I wonder how long before someone uses some of that data as evidence to back up their argument?

Marco Rubio reiterated his position on climate change on CBS 60 Minutes Sunday evening, saying he didn't think that humans are a cause of it "like all these scientists say it is." Later on Sunday evening he made this statement to reporters after appearing on 60 Minutes. "My refusal to accept the scientific research on climate change is a matter of public record. On this issue and many others, my ignorance should take a back seat to no one's." I agree with the last part of his statement.

I looked for coverage from, ahem, right-leaning sources and they have pretty much ignored it, like the MSM. Note that I linked from Washington Times, the moonie paper. I saw that Rachel Maddow yucked it up last night, though.

Actually sent:
Dear Rep. Van Zant,

I've noticed that the liberals and queers are making you a laughingstock all over the web for your recent words On Common Core and homosexuality. On the contrary, I think it's very brave of you to publicly admit that you could be persuaded to be gay.
