Yep, that was the range of my emotions while processing that.

Only Christian businesses? How about Spaghetti Monsters? Muslims? Church of Body Modification? Jews? I could go along with that on a limited basis. Even now, businesses with fewer than 15 employees are exempt from most federal anti-discrimination law, although there are also state laws like the one that got the cake guy. I could see that in a sole proprietor business, where the person is inseparable from the business, that s/he ought to have some leeway in personal preference or religion. I, for example, would not serve rednecks. And I don't think a small kosher butcher ought to have to sell non-kosher meat. But once the business gets past that point, it becomes a separate entity from the owner and ought to have to follow all the rules, regardless of what the owner believes or prefers. If you're going to open to the public, you gotta open to all the public.Mr.B wrote:In all fairness, no.O Really wrote: "OK, fair enough. so let's clarify for all - do you think it should be legal for employers to discriminate against employees because of their sexual orientation? It's a yes or a no - thingy not required."
My stance is that a Christian business should have the right to say "No" when an instance arises that goes against their religious beliefs....and you know what I'm referencing; so no need to rehash that argument.
I don't believe that a law should be made about it one way or the other.O Really wrote:do you think it should be legal for employers to discriminate against employees because of their sexual orientation?
By that reasoning, that means if you own a butcher shop that doesn't sell kosher meats and if a customer came in demanding you begin stocking kosher meats so he/she can purchase there rather than go across town, in order to avoid "discriminating" against him/her, by law you are obliged to fulfill his/her wishes?...O Really wrote: "And I don't think a small kosher butcher ought to have to sell non-kosher meat. Vrede wrote: "Equal treatment under the Constitution and law you despise is the issue whether it's race or orientation."
Because I believe homosexuality is a perversion, that means I despise the law, spit on the Constitution, don't believe in equality of fellow humans; and now you call me a racist? You are one pathetic, condescending human being, Vrede.
".......you completely ignored all that, ran away from every single one of my questions......You haven't been ignoring any of us....."
As I said .... I usually ignore condescending, know-it-all people.
Why do you think that every opinion you express or question you ask merits a reply?
"Being a "know-it-all" compared to you is nothing for me to brag about."
Not that you have anything to brag about to begin with. Because my beliefs are faith-based, you label me a 'hater', yet you fail to recognize that your remarks toward me and my faith are nothing more than 'hate' as well.
IRL, I have never treated anyone any differently than I would want to be treated; not even if I didn't agree with their lifestyle.
I don't proclaim to know everything, nor does anyone else here as far as I can read into their posts; but you.......well, you know.
It goes far beyond that.Vrede wrote: :?: No business has to sell a product it doesn't want to. They just can't refuse to sell the products or services they do have to certain customers because of their race, age, gender, marital status, disability, gender, religion, ethnic origin or, in some (eventually all) states, their sexual orientation or gender identification.
By Mr.B's prejudiced "reasoning", a non-Christian business should be able to put a "No Christians Allowed" sign on their door.
Thanksgiving is the day after tomorrow, and gay marriage is legal in SC. This ought to be an interesting holiday.

Some put lipstick on it in an attempt to make it into something that it is not...O Really wrote:Pig worship temples are found throughout NC, but there is dissension among the faithful as to whether to annoint the pig with red or vinegar.
It's really too bad that devout Jews and Muslims alike shun all of this. But then again, that just means more pig for you and I.O Really wrote:neoplacebo wrote:I myself seek out dead pigs to touch; I find them fascinating and don't consider it an abomination at all. Well, if it's confession time, I too have sought the pleasure of eating the flesh of dead pigs, and abomination though it may be in some places, it is considered a true heavenly aspiration and religious experience in places like St. Louis (where rubbing the dead pig is a treasured ritual) and Kansas City, where particular burning sacrifice is made of the ends. Pig worship temples are found throughout NC, but there is dissension among the faithful as to whether to annoint the pig with red or vinegar.
I like mine off the grill smothered with Sweet Baby Ray's....yum.neoplacebo wrote: "It's really too bad that devout Jews and Muslims alike shun all of this. But then again, that just means more pig for you and I."
The legalize-bigotry law has to pass the Michigan senate and be signed by the state's governor before it's law.For example, under the Religious Freedom law, a pharmacist could refuse to fill a doctor's prescription for birth control, or HIV medication. An emergency room physician or EMT could refuse service to a gay person in need of immediate treatment. A school teacher could refuse to mentor the children of a same-sex couple, and a DMV clerk could refuse to give a driver's license to a person who is divorced.
Liar. Why are you so dishonest....or do you just miss me?Vrede wrote:"Wear a cross or otherwise indicate that you are Christian and a non-Christian could refuse you goods or services. This is the world Mr.B has said that he wants."
