Guns, race, religion, terror, wingnut thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Amazing, isn't it?
And it's being characterized mostly as another "gun incident" (which it is), with no mention of the "hate-filled terrorist" incident which it also is.

How much of the responsibility lies with the makers of the fake video

Also Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina. Once she started using it (and related batshit-loony claims) to con gullible right-wingnuts, Fox News had to jump in to defend it.

Fox News's coverage of the Planned Parenthood attack consisted of insisting that it was a bank robbery gone wrong having nothing to do with Planned Parenthood, before declaring it to be Obama's fault.

"The man suspected of storming a Planned Parenthood clinic and killing a police officer and two others in Colorado on Friday told the officers who arrested him “no more baby parts,’’ after being taken into custody, according to a law enforcement official."

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/colora ... &ocid=iehp

Where in the world could he possibly have gotten the idea there was an issue with "baby parts"?

Well, it's not like they could take the word of a nut like that, could they? It's not like he was named Abdelhamid.

Suspected Planned Parenthood gunman unmoored in WNC

I live less than 45 minutes from Swannanoa & Black Mountain, could have easily happened here.

Tell the Department of Justice:

"Open a domestic terrorism investigation into the violent attacks at Planned Parenthood clinics."

A 7th Grader Wouldn’t Back Down When Her Teacher Told Her to Deny God. Then Came the Backlash.

So, we all know it's CPF, so better do some fact checking..... oh good, someone already had!

Fucking Texas. When you're too batshit crazy and mentally ill for even Alaska, you go to Texas.

Or as I have discovered, Texas is tied in second place with South Carolina.

Interesting thought heard: When the perp is crazy, that doesn't mean it's not terrorism. We don't contemplate the sanity of the Paris terrorists.

Good point.
I understand that it would be nice to keep the term "terrorism" to apply to some political effort and separate it from normal garden variety crime. In that vein, what is not "terrorism" about somebody (sane or not) who shoots up/bombs/sets on fire a building housing a group to which s/he is opposed, particularly when that group is subject to constant abuse from a lot of people, some of whom are running for President?

Unless the crazyass perp is some white, evangelical wingnut.

You Are More Than 7 Times As Likely To Be Killed By A Right-Wing Extremist Than By Muslim Terrorists

In other words, it's more effective to discourage rightwingers from moving to your state than it is to prevent Syrian immigration.

Why white guys aren't called terrorists...

This post originally ran on Truthdig contributor Juan Cole’s website.

1. White terrorists are called “gunmen.” What does that even mean? A person with a gun? Wouldn’t that be, like, everyone in the US? Other terrorists are called, like, “terrorists.”

2. White terrorists are “troubled loners.” Other terrorists are always suspected of being part of a global plot, even when they are obviously troubled loners.

3. Doing a study on the danger of white terrorists at the Department of Homeland Security will get you sidelined by angry white Congressmen. Doing studies on other kinds of terrorists is a guaranteed promotion.

4. The family of a white terrorist is interviewed, weeping as they wonder where he went wrong. The families of other terrorists are almost never interviewed.

5. White terrorists are part of a “fringe.” Other terrorists are apparently mainstream.

6. White terrorists are random events, like tornadoes. Other terrorists are long-running conspiracies.

7. White terrorists are never called “white.” But other terrorists are given ethnic affiliations.

8. Nobody thinks white terrorists are typical of white people. But other terrorists are considered paragons of their societies.

9. White terrorists are alcoholics, addicts or mentally ill. Other terrorists are apparently clean-living and perfectly sane.

10. There is nothing you can do about white terrorists. Gun control won’t stop them. No policy you could make, no government program, could possibly have an impact on them. But hundreds of billions of dollars must be spent on police and on the Department of Defense, and on TSA, which must virtually strip search 60 million people a year, to deal with other terrorists.

Slate: Forget Syria. The most dangerous religious extremists are migrants from North and South Carolina.

Not mentioned: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed - architect of the 9/11 attacks, the Bali nightclub bombing in Indonesia, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and more - attended Chowan College in Murfreesboro, North Carolina and later North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Respek.
