WorldNetDaily, AKA WingNutDaily, AKA Birther Central, was publishing similar stories about Bush II all through his presidency. Claims that he had created a "North American Union", that he had replaced the US dollar with the "Amero", that he had agreed to UN-controlled martial law in the event of a virus outbreak, etc. etc., etc. They were a precursor to the Tea Party - even most of the Republican Party were commie Marxist socialists.

It's all about monetizing the goddamned stupid and gullible.

In the 1970s such publications were all about UFOs, sasquatches and the Lock Ness monster. But after Watergate and later legal battles, it became clear that you could publish *ANYTHING* about major political figures without fear of reprisal. Politics affected people directly, and did its own publicity that you could latch onto.

By switching to political conspiracy theories, the wingnut press became far more lucrative. WingNutDaily and Jones have their ad sales, book publications, radio shows, on-line stores and whatnot to cash in. With plenty of "Buy Gold!" and other scams targeting that most valuable demographic, the goddamned stupid and gullible.

CBC: Lionsgate moves TV show production to B.C. after North Carolina's anti-LGBTQ law

Lionsgate was set to film a new Hulu series called Crushed in the Charlotte, N.C., area about a family in the wine business. Preproduction was to begin this month, with filming starting in May, but the studio informed local employees that the production would be scrapped and moved to B.C., the Charlotte Observer reported this week.

A local news outlet reported the move would cost North Carolina 100 jobs.
