Forum not accepting certain articles/words.
Just got this while trying to make a reply on the "Who's Next" thread in the General Discussion area ...
Tried three times, same thing ...
Am I banned from that thread?
I made an earlier reply trhis evening on the Dexter thread, all was good then.
I'll find another thread wherein I want to make a reply (or do a few test replies and then delete if successful) and report if the same thing happens ...
EDIT: So far, it appears to be the only thread (Who's Next) to which I cannot reply without getting the above referenced error.

Re: Test ...
There are restrictions on the number of url links, etc, but it should not be giving the Forbidden permission post that mike posted. There is also a limit on 5 nested quotes, because after that it's pretty much unreadable anyway.
My permission system was a bit of a mess, I cleaned it up a bit even though I suspect it's an a problem the server may be having.
If you guys noticed permissions you used to have that are missing, holler, I tested it quickly. Also, if you continue to see the this problem, don't hesitate to let me know.
If you find some pasted information that is consistently being denied, paste it to me at my email: bannination123@gmail.com so I can test.
Sorry guys!

Re: Test ...
I just read someone with a similar problem on this host. They theorize that it's something in the messages that are setting off mod_security on their web server.... they're being a little overzealous on protecting their server.
So if you have the problem, definitely paste what you were writing to me so I can reproduce it and figure out exactly what is setting it off so I can have a powow with the host.

Ok, cool, I'll check those out this weekend!Vrede wrote:My 3 posts in a row with the petition links on this page was one of them. Probably just that too many urls thing. It worked fine when divided it into 3 posts.
Another was when I tried to paste this paragraph from this article in this thread without doing a url link:
I finally gave up and just wrote: "Opps, screwed by his own link again," without the quote.
Thanks

Ah, hell, I cannot even PM you (Banni) what I tried to post (same message I got in my initial post) ...
Go to the link below to see it (it's the same text I attempted to post and PM to you) - it's a safe link from my dropbox account (really, it's only one link and a quote from within the link, it's just text)
Copy and paste it in to a reply, just do a preview, if you don't get the message I presented in the first post, let me know (in fact, anyone reading can try):
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/89889714/troub ... 20post.txt
Maybe the "server" doesn't like the Huffington Post?

I found the "offending word" It's the drug name that's posted in that article. If you remove everything else and *just* post that one word, it'll reject it. I've made a ticket with the host to try and at least get that one resolved.
Thanks for the help guys, it's invaluable.

Other drug trade names are fine: Advicor, Lescol
But not: Valiam, Lipator, Vicodan (misspelled so I can post them)
Weird.
Sounds more and more like some kind of overzealous spam protection that the host is using that's beyond what phpbb3 has. We'll see.

Yep, may do that. Still waiting on a ticket response. I made it "low" priority.

Re: Forum not accepting certain articles/words.
I should have figured it had something to with a drug reference.
Many of the tech sites I'm on occasionally get spammed by prescription links.
I wonder if the server has a filter for "handbags?" (another common spam topic).

Add posters to that.
You're being weeded out, one by one.

Explains why I've gotten hundreds of e-mails in the spam box at work, touting discount prices on "Vigara" and "Calais."bannination wrote:

I wondered who was that stupid. Now I see that they were just trying to beat the filters.

"gay secks" (misspelled so I can post it) doesn't work. "homosexual sex" and "queer sex" are okay, as are:homerfobe wrote:...butt-hole...Dingle...dildo...Cock...Bunghole...
Speaking of Senator Larry Craig, the Federal Election Commission is sueing Craig for repayment of $217,000 in campaign funds that were instead used to pay for his defense in his airport bathroom lewd conduct case. You never know where your Republican campaign donations will go.

The board filters out {dil-dos} (without the inserted, no pun intended, hyphen) ...

Re: Forum not accepting certain articles/words.
Weird....
If you guys narrow down a particular word, send it to my email.... I'll compile them and send them out in a group to try and get the filters eased up.
I'll note "dildoes" <SP> of course.
It's going to be funny explaining why I need "gay secks" and "dildoes" unblocked!
