In Wisconsin, Bernie won the Dem primary. By a lot - almost 150,000 votes. The demographic that gave the state to Trump was "white working class" voters, who generally would have voted Dem. The guy with 150K+ votes could have told them all "vote for Hillary, vote for Hillary" and a lot more of them would. Whining about being cheated, whether or not valid, and dragging on a luke-warm endorsement did not help. If Hillary had won Wisconsin, she'd have been President. She lost Wisconsin by just under 23,000 votes. You seriously think Bernie couldn't have swayed 23,000 voters?
It's water under the bridge at this point, so I won't bother looking things up, but I think I remember that Bernie made more campaign appearances for Hillary than she had for Obama 4 years earlier. Idk whether any were in Wisconsin, but it would have been on her campaign to ask for his help there. Then, nobody thought that Dolt .45 would win, including Dolt .45. I'm sure that affected lots of choices all around.
Ok, so maybe not only Wisconsin, but according to WaPo:
"He reluctantly and belatedly endorsed her. And the two speeches he has given since for her have basically been papered-over versions of his own stump speech. In short, since he ended his own campaign, Bernie Sanders hasn't done much publicly to help get Hillary Clinton elected president."
However, WaPo didn't think it mattered all that much. I don't see how it couldn't have.
If the idea was to appeal to the marginal "white working class" voters, a slightly modified versions of his stump speech seems a sensible approach to me. Stick with what works.
Idk what would have been better. Many were Bernie fans because of their frustration with the establishment, like Hillary. Bernie couldn't have fixed that by ordering his voters to ignore that albatross around her neck. TRE45ON or staying home became the only options for those folks.

Sen. Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton stood side-by-side again Thursday at an event in Raleigh, North Carolina. They reminded the crowd of the long journey they’ve had -- sometime as competitors, sometimes as allies -- over this campaign.
“I’ve got to say,” Clinton said, turning to address Sanders. “This election’s been a lot more fun now that we’re on the same side.”
The independent Vermont senator smiled and bobbed his head. “I want to thank Bernie for everything he’s done,” she continued.
Sanders will campaign today for her in Iowa, the state that in many ways put him on the map during the primary race, where he came within a fraction of a point of beating her in their first-in-the-nation caucuses.
The stop is one of more than a dozen he has scheduled across the country this final week before the general election, from New Hampshire to Arizona, as he continues to rally support behind his former rival.
“No one can say he didn’t go all in, and if they do they are lying,” Pete D’Alessandro, Sanders former Iowa caucus director who is now working in behalf of the Democratic Party in the state, told ABC News. “It’s amazing what he’s doing.”
I stand corrected-ish and abused. Plenty of blame to go around.
I do from time to time think of how life might have been different if Hillary had won. She wouldn't have gotten anything done with a Repug Senate, and would have a low approval rating and probably gotten trashed in 2020, but we wouldn't have had Trump's chaos. Sounds like a good trade to me.

Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) is making what appears to be a Bill de Blasio-esque foray into national politics.
For some reason, the California governor — according to CNN — has purchased $105,000 worth of ad time on Fox News in Florida, for a commercial set to air on Monday.
“It’s Independence Day – so let’s talk about what’s going on in America,” Newsom said, in the ad — narrating over various images of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL). “Freedom is under attack in your state. Your Republican leaders, they’re making it harder to vote. Restricting speech in classrooms. Even criminalizing women and doctors.
“I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight – or join us in California, where we still believe in freedom: Freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom from hate, and the freedom to love. Don’t let them take your freedom,” the governor added — in a closing pitch that’s sure to totally convince Fox News viewers in Florida … or not.
He survived a recall, has a big war chest and has no serious 2022 opposition. TV talking heads are divided over whether this is a 2024 warning shot or whether he's just standing up to the right when others aren't. Could be both, I guess. Whatever, he's getting lots of free airings on TV news shows. FU, DeSantis.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in his adopted state of Pennsylvania, admits his campaign has struggled to raise money and he says it’s because Democrats are “clever” while Republicans mow their lawns.
Oz spoke to Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Monday, who pointed out the vast disparity in fundraising between him and his opponent, Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.
According to a report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Fetterman has out-raised Oz nine to one, $9.9 million to Oz’s $1.1 million. And while Oz has also loaned $2.2 million to his campaign, Fetterman has five times more cash on hand.
Asked why, Oz replied:
“The Democrats have very cleverly taken all of these issues that have come up over the summer ― the Dodd decision, the concerns about guns ― and they’ve used these as excuses to raise money from the Democratic loyalists. Interestingly, when Republicans get mad, we go out and mow the lawn. Democrats, when they get mad, donate money to their party.”
... Fetterman has been trolling Oz over the fact that he’s lived in New Jersey until very recently ― even voting in the Garden State in 2020, per Politico. He’s also painted Oz as a wealthy celebrity who’s out-of-touch with everyday Pennsylvanians, with one video showing several of the mansions Oz owns around the world....

Damn straight they have.
Mow the lawn?

So clever. Does anyone ever say that about RepuQs?
Mow the lawn?

Voters are not interested in a second-term presidency for Joe Biden, according to a new poll released Wednesday. Agreed.
Maury Blackman, CEO of the data company Premise, announced the results of the Premise Poll in an episode of his podcast, Great Minds Think Data.
Poll numbers show voters are interested in a run from current Vice President Kamala Harris I did not like her record as a prosecutor, but I would give her platform a fair hearing.
and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Seriously??!!
California Governor Gavin Newsom and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg are tied for third place. I'm good with those 2 options, though I wonder about the electability of a Californian or a gay man.
Biden's presidency has not inspired Democrats to elect him to a second term, the numbers show. By a margin of 23 points, 61% of those polled said they would prefer a new president; 38% said they'd welcome another four years of Biden. You're due a break and peaceful twilight years, Joe.
(details on the poll numbers)
... In the same poll, numbers show that Biden, 79, and Trump, 76, are tied with 50% of respondents saying they preferred the Democrat and 50% saying they preferred the Republican when asked, "In a general election race between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump who would you prefer?"
"We're totally doomed anyway..."
Not Harris. Never Clinton. Michelle Obama in 2024!
, but she's too smart to want it.
