Florida makes me sad. It's been over four years since I set foot in the Sunshine State; I have no direct connection at all anymore except that the UM alumni moneygrubbers keep begging and I keep in touch with some of my former colleagues in the firm. I don't have any kids who'll be going to school there; I don't know anybody who's likely to need an abortion there. I'm not going to be sick there and whatever DeSantis does or doesn't do doesn't affect me directly in any way. But I spent a lot of good years of my life as a Floridian and, with few complaints mostly loved it. As far as I can tell, that Florida doesn't exist anymore. A reliably red state that would re-elect DeSantis and not only let him get by with, but support stuff that is clearly detrimental to the state and citizenry by any definition. Makes me root for the hurricanes to wipe it up - billy.p's house excluded, of course.

IMO front runners often flop in the primaries, TRE45QN could win the primaries or make an Independent run out of spite, and Fascist DerSantis has already gone too extreme to win a general. But, it's dangerous to overestimate the American voter.

Besides possibly being a primary flop he's nowhere near battle tested on a big stage and national vetting is different than on a statewide level. There's a decent chance he'll wilt or implode. I get the sense he's more man child than not.
