JD has zero charisma. Trump does. I think the MAGA cult will disentegrate once their golden calf passes and gets flushed down to hell. Cults need a charismatic cult leader.

Probably won't matter at that point though, since a large chunk of Americans and self proclaimed conservatives have given up on maintaining the values of a republican form of government and law abiding society.

The executive orders may be of the same nature, but congresscritters may not roll over for him with the same deference as DonOld, mostly cause they won't be as skeered.

Yeah, Trump isn't the only wild-eyed drooling right winger, and likely others think up half the crazy stuff he says. But nobody else is Trump, and Trump wannabes have had marginal success and never get the totally committed following. But I'd agree the underlying support and societal commonality in the (former) United States has eroded away faster than a sand spit in a hurricane.

In a spurt of Pollyanna mysticism, though, I think it's possible that lame-duck politicians like Tillis, et. al. give some clue as to how repugs might be once they aren't so skeered of Trump. Maybe still loons, but tolerable and somewhat predictable.
