The LEO thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Since they all behave badly.

This murder required 16 pigs to cover

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/in ... n-n1064401
... The inspector general recommended the firing of 11 individuals, but only four were let go, according to the NBC affiliate WMAQ.

None of the four officers fired by the police board were charged criminally....

Van Dyke was found guilty of second-degree murder in 2018 for shooting McDonald 16 times.

Van Dyke’s partner, another officer and a detective were accused of engaging in a cover-up of the events of that evening and put on trial last year but were found not guilty....
BS, all 16 are guilty of being accessories to murder after the fact, and perhaps some were during the murder.
That's how the law is applied to the public.
What about "stacking"? using police property in a crime, conspiracy, damage to police property, etc.

I'm sure there are other things the 16 murder-enabling cops could and should be charged with. Accessories to murder is just what I believe is the most serious one.

I don't agree with stacking, just noting that there usually are bs charges stacked on - isn't "failure to self report your own crime" a form of resisting arrest?

Nah, 5th Amendment.
How about "violation of your oath as a law enforcement officer" or "failure to not be a dumbass" or "failure to not get caught while committing dumbshittery?" And of course one may add the words "conspiracy in" to each of the above. Also, a few of them could possibly be charged with failure to be overweight enough to be part of the force. This charge is determined on an individual basis and is generally indefensible.

Felony charge for girl, 13, who pointed finger-guns at other students, officials say

There’s a broad middle ground between doing nothing and arresting a 13 year-old for apparently illegal fingers. Zero tolerance is a con creation and Overland Park, Kansas is Repug.

I like this one; it sort of makes me want to send this sheriff a nice email that would express my thoughts on this matter. But, since I didn't send one to the sheriff's son that was arrested for burning those black churches in LA I suppose I should just idle for now. Besides, I generally only send notes to the chiefs and sheriffs that merit it for their own conduct, not their spawn.

Thanks  .
The son of a Texas sheriff who used a White House press conference to describe immigrant offenders as “drunks” likely to repeatedly break the law has been arrested for public intoxication.

Sergei Waybourn, 24, faces a count of indecent exposure as well as public drunkenness just days after his father, Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn, was criticised for the comments.

Responding to a California court ruling that banned immigration officers from arresting people on the basis of records that have been proven unreliable, Sheriff Waybourn said 7% of his 4,200 inmates were “illegal aliens”.

He added: “Of those people that we have in custody, we know for a fact that 72% of them are repeat offenders. So if we have to turn them loose or if they get released, they’re coming back to your neighbourhood and my neighbourhood. These drunks will run over your children and they will run over my children.
Carma?
... Officials quickly hit back at the sheriff’s comments on Thursday, which were described as “racist” and “bigoted”. Many pointed out that native Texans were significantly more likely to be arrested than migrants in the state....
Rightwing Cato Institute, 2018:
Criminal Immigrants in Texas: Illegal Immigrant Conviction and Arrest Rates for Homicide, Sex Crimes, Larceny, and Other Crimes

... the conviction and arrest rates for illegal immigrants were lower than those for native-born Americans....

Conclusion

The homicide conviction rate for illegal immigrants was 16 percent below that of native-born Americans in Texas in 2015. The conviction rates for illegal immigrants were 7.9 percent and 77 percent below that of native-born Americans for sex crimes and larceny, respectively. For all criminal convictions in Texas in 2015, illegal immigrants had a criminal conviction rate 50 percent below that of native-born Americans. Legal immigrants had a criminal conviction rate 66 percent below that of native-born Americans.

Might be interesting to see if these 2 NC leo pigs considered skin color in their crimes.

https://www.newsobserver.com/news/local ... 11313.html

The video I looked at showed a black lady respond to the cop light by slowing down, putting on her blinker and attempting to pull into a parking lot. Pig boy would have none of that, he had rather block traffic with his pig car and pull the lady out of the car and onto the pavement.

Yeah leo, it's systemic.

Great to see bad cops in jail and that it was another cop that caught them, though I do wonder why it took 6 years.

Assholes.

The one cop was fired in June 2018, this being his 3rd strike, at least:

Videos released that detail how fired NC trooper handled 2 previous traffic stops

The other complicit cop is not IDed in this article and there's no mention of any discipline.

The predictable result of easily skeered LEOs whose first resort is a gun:
Off-duty DPD officer accidentally shoots his son in the arm, authorities say
The officer's son was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, authorities say.

An off-duty Dallas police Officer accidentally shot his son after mistaking him for an intruder, according to officials with the DeSoto Police Department.
Understandable because it was the middle of the night? Nope.
Authorities with DeSoto police say the shooting happened around 6 p.m. Saturday near the 1400 block of Carriage Creek....

Dear Chief of Police Blake, and existing and incoming Hendersonville city government,

I am offended by the police license check station that I had to pass through on Maple Street at about 1730 on 11/7/2019.

I don’t like being made to feel like I’m in Beirut or Baghdad with their checkpoints in order to move from one part of my home to another.

It seems like a waste of resources to have half a dozen officers standing around on such a low volume street.

The officer was curt when I asked for an explanation. “It’s a state maintained road,” repeated, does not explain anything, and the clear unspoken addition to the sentence was, “You ignorant putz, how dare you question this?”

This checkpoint would bother me anywhere, but I can’t help noticing that it’s adjacent to a predominantly Black and Latino neighborhood. That hardly seems to be a coincidence.

Sincerely,
(Vrede too)

Too bad there wasn't a parade of about a thousand people coming down that road at the time; those boys would have their "work" cut out for them. And was that cop you spoke with overweight enough to be on the force? Do you think he realized he's a socialist worker and would be confused if he did realize it?

Not really. Our standards must be lapsing.

Do you think he realized he's a socialist worker and would be confused if he did realize it?

Idk, Beirut was my example, but Checkpoint Charlie would have been a good alternative.
Thank you for your email and your concern. I can also be reached at 828-697-3040. Chief Blake
Fwiw, the Chief is Black and all of the cops I saw were White.

I'm not planning to call. I don't really have anything to add that wouldn't be a long rant on authoritarianism. This is the kind of thing that I'll never get an overt satisfactory reaction to, but they MIGHT choose other tactics in the future.

I lived in a different town where we, a lot of the community, shut down similar plans for checkpoints before they ever got started. We had a crew ready with "Police checkpoint ahead, welcome to Beirut" signs, but we learned the next day that the plans had been cancelled after a large number of critical phone calls.

The last time I encountered a police "checkpoint" was about 1996 on old Spartanburg Highway. A NC state trooper was there by himself checking licenses. I lived near there and was on the way to return a VHS movie to the rental place. I did not have my wallet with me for some reason, so no license or id of any kind. When I got up to him, I immediately said "you're not gonna like this, but I don't have my license with me. But I know the number of it." I recited the seven digit number to him, he went to his radio for a few minutes, then came back and let me go. Nice guy, very professional, physically fit. If I'd had an open beer and a lit joint at the time, he probably would have been less amenable.....but it was early and I had not hit my stride.

  Of course, you're white and not a kid.

I hit one 10 or 12 years ago on Hwy. 25 between Hooterville and Fletcher, plus drug/immigrant ones in or near border states.

You inspired my response to "a socialist worker" about other socialist workers:
Quoting "Volk, Barbara" <bvolk@hvlnc.gov>:

Re: Baghdad in Hendersonville

Dear Mayor Volk,

Thank you for your quick response.

Perhaps I was not clear. I have no problem with traffic law enforcement, and the rude cop did not reminding me "to respect the speed limits." Rather, my issue is with making all drivers, ones who are doing nothing wrong, feel like they're passing through Checkpoint Charlie into East Berlin.

Sincerely,
(Vrede too)
Already sent, but I could have been a little snarkier and said, "I was only reminded to respect speed limits when traffic is backed up and I can see half a dozen police cars." Probably best that I didn't think of it in time :D .
