It's not really the losses that make it so hard to be a Carolina fan - it's the ability and habit of losing to teams they should beat. This year Dook and NC Farmers, both good rivalries and both having good teams, would be expected to play good games. No real tears in the beer if Carolina lost. But as somebody said, don't worry about jinxing them - they're capable of jinxing themselves. Most every year.

The FBI has joined the University of Michigan police department's investigation of former Wolverines assistant football coach Matt Weiss, who was fired in January following a report of unauthorized computer access crimes at the school's football building.

Deputy chief Melissa Overton confirmed the FBI's involvement to ESPN on Thursday, adding that the investigation is "extensive, ongoing and is of the utmost priority," and covers multiple states....

A University of Michigan police department spokesperson told ESPN's Dan Murphy that the Weiss investigation is unrelated to the NCAA's probe of off-campus scouting and signal stealing involving the program and staff member Connor Stalions, who was around the program in 2021 before officially joining the staff in 2022.

... Never mind that he’s been sacked more times for more yards than any other power five QB, and if I could verify that neither FIU or Old Dominion yielded four sacks Saturday, he’d lead the FBS in those categories.

Per my calculations, Shadeur has been dropped 42 times for a total loss of 381 yards. That’s a little over five sacks for a little under 50 yards lost per game. The Bruins harassed Deion’s kid so relentlessly — seven sacks, and countless hits, hurries, and knockdowns — that it would constitute child abuse if his pops didn’t sign the waiver. (Or if Shedeur wasn’t legally an adult.)

... Backup Ryan Staub has two pass attempts on the season, and the offense is almost as bad at running the ball as it is protecting the QB. They were 126th (of 130) in total rushing yards per outing coming into the weekend, and tallied a whopping 25 on the ground at the Rose Bowl.

Here's a list of the unranked two-loss Power 5 teams: Rutgers, Iowa, North Carolina and Miami.

We can understand the Rutgers snub. The Knights' best wins came early against Northwestern and Virginia Tech teams that have both vastly improved since then.

We can understand the Iowa snub. The committee members likely fell asleep during its games.

We can even understand UNC's snub, despite its head-to-head win over Miami. The past two losses to Virginia and Georgia Tech are inexcusable. Indeed, the committee might be doing UNC a favor. The Heels don't play well with a little number next to their name.

But Miami? With wins over Texas A&M and Clemson? Well, there should be some genuine outrage here.

Oh, not at the committee. We get its decision. We're just still fuming over Mario Cristobal's refusal to kneel against Georgia Tech. If he had, Miami would be 7-1 and likely in the top 15.
