What does this house look like to you? Put answer/discussion in "spoiler" box until others have had a chance.

I can sort of see it, but I have to work at it. I never would have come up with the likeness on my own.

CBC: Donald Trump's choice of generals for top posts 'extremely unusual'
The democratic principle of civilian control over the military assures that strategic policy-making rests in the hands of private elected citizens, while the armed forces take a subordinate role. The dynamic is meant to protect against a possible coup or military dictatorship.
There are often individual military officials in positions of power, like general James Jones as Obama's national security advisor or Bush II's secretary of state general Colin Powell.
But Trump has appointed:
- General John Kelly for secretary of Homeland Security
- Marine James Mattis for defence
- Lieutenant General and noted nutjob Michael Flynn for national security adviser
Competing for Secretary of State:
- General - and actually guilty of what Trump accused Hillary of - David Petraeus
- Admiral James Stavridis
Meanwhile the lesser positions like Housing, Education and Labor are going to folks with zen-like perfection in being unqualified (Ben Carson, who has never had a government position, will run Housing and Urban Development) or people who have essentially sworn to destroy those departments (Education, Labor, etc.)
And of course between Trump, Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway and the rest they're working to destroy the press. Communicating directly through social media and Breitbart with no press to question what they say.
Are you folks having a Putin / Erdoğan style takeover?

We also had these silly law things, but that was a while ago, like 3 weeks at least.
There shall be a Secretary of Defense, who shall be appointed from civilian life by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate: PROVIDED, That a person who has within ten years been on active duty as a commissioned officer in a Regular component of the armed services shall not be eligible for appointment as Secretary of Defense.”
Excerpt from the National Security Act of 1947, creating a new Department of Defense. This restriction on who could be named Secretary was later changed to read: “A person may not be appointed as Secretary of Defense within seven years after relief from active duty as a commissioned officer of a regular component of an armed force.”
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

The GOP Congress can scrap the law or make an exception unless the Dems choose to filibuster.
Generals, billionaires, white supremacists - I think Hitler/Mussolini/Franco is the more apt model.rstrong wrote:... Are you folks having a Putin / Erdoğan style takeover?

Re: Can't make this (stuff) up
Erdoğan had already purged the generals except for his own loyalists. The coup that nevertheless happened, was by lower level officers. And given how it's been used to jail reporters, judges and others on a grand scale, Erdoğan probably arranged the coup.Vrede too wrote:The GOP Congress can scrap the law or make an exception unless the Dems choose to filibuster.

There's plenty of race & religion politics involved too, with the Kurds as the Trump-equivalent Muslims/Mexicans/Blacks. And I doubt there's any shortage of billionaires backing Erdoğan.

While both Erdoğan and Trump courted the religious, I very much doubt that either are religious. Like for Mr.B, religion is just a flag of convenience for their own ends.

Doesn't matter what they are as long as they can manipulate the believers into serving their military-oligarchy ends.

Re: Can't make this (stuff) up
clicked on a pic of this interesting cheese right after eating a breakfast that I almost lost. What the hell were these people thinking. They let maggots predigest their cheese.
wow - soft cheese
Casu marzu is created by leaving whole Pecorino cheeses outside with part of the rind removed to allow the eggs of the cheese fly Piophila casei to be laid in the cheese. A female P. casei can lay more than five hundred eggs at one time.[2][4] The eggs hatch and the larvae begin to eat through the cheese.[5] The acid from the maggots' digestive system breaks down the cheese's fats,[5] making the texture of the cheese very soft; by the time it is ready for consumption, a typical casu marzu will contain thousands of these maggots

Substitute Breitbart for casei and White House for cheese, and casu marzu becomes Trump Administration.billy.pilgrim wrote:Casu marzu is created by leaving whole Pecorino cheeses outside with part of the rind removed to allow the eggs of the cheese fly Piophila casei to be laid in the cheese. Casu marzu cheese ... gag a maggot!

Does that make the maggots Canadians, or Canadians the maggots?rstrong wrote:"Substitute Breitbart for casei and White House for cheese, and casu marzu becomes Trump Administration."

You may claim otherwise, but you post an endless stream of alt-right trumpsucker BS, and attack everyone who thinks differently.

"Attack"...? Are you serious?rstrong wrote: ".....you post an endless stream of alt-right trumpsucker BS, and attack everyone who thinks differently."
I'll surely have to mend my ways! I sure didn't mean to harm "everyone's" poor, thin-skinned egos by posting humorous memes and/or making humorous and opposing comments that go against and are detrimental to you all's opinionated opinions...!
Let me tell you something, you pandering, non-citizen busy-body. I voted for Obama because I felt he was the better of the two choices, IMHO. I voted for Trump because I felt he was the better of the two choices, IMHO. I'm not proud of either decision, but neither did I relish the thought of their opponents becoming POTUS.
I wouldn't give you two cents for Hillary, Obama, or Trump; I certainly am no follower or "supporter"® of Trump either; but, despite his loony-ness,
he beats he the hell out of what Hillary ever had a dream of accomplishing.
So, you can take your "alt-right trumpsucker BS" and stick it where it feels the most good to you.
