Maaaybe. I'm no lawyer, but I occasionally play one on internet forums. I'm not sure that Hunter's public statements about being a "drug addict" are admissible. First, he is not qualified to make that diagnosis. Then, a defense lawyer might argue that it was hyperbole, making excuses for misdeeds, trying to sell books, victimology, whatever. A psychologist or MD could say for sure, but Hunter might refuse to waive confidentiality and a judge might be loathe to breech it over a ticky-tacky alleged lying on a form "crime".

That said, you're correct that it will be funny if cons have to choose between stronger gun laws and getting on the "Free Hunter" bandwagon. Maybe the tax case is more solid.

The kid has a rough life ahead of him. His dad is old, in poor health, and facing several criminal indictments. His adult siblings are also facing criminal indictments. Even his mom is caught up in a federal investigation (about the trump inauguration). The family business is under criminal indictment, as well as civil, and could end up bankrupt. His whole world is about to come crashing down around him next year.
