The LEO thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I would guess about a one in ten chance. What they really like is those high speed pursuits, though. That's what really gets them going.

I must admit I did send a note of disapproval to the Parish just this evening wishing them collectively and the officer involved in particular the sort of thing no one would want to have wished on them. I also congratulated them for being stupid backwater redneck dubmasses. Unless felony indictments are forthcoming I doubt they change their ways, though. I may even have to take a trip down there.

I think it would be a good idea for this DEA agent and Dick Cheney to go hunting together.

On a related note, I would still go flying with Harrison Ford any day of the week, rather than go hunting with Dick Waterboard Cheney.

I'm sure NC local police would never misuse this: https://www.aclu.org/maps/stingray-trac ... s-got-them
Stingrays, also known as "cell site simulators" or "IMSI catchers," are invasive cell phone surveillance devices that mimic cell phone towers and send out signals to trick cell phones in the area into transmitting their locations and identifying information. When used to track a suspect's cell phone, they also gather information about the phones of countless bystanders who happen to be nearby.
Can't wait for the first "stalking ex-girlfriend" stories to come out.

Here's one on the opposite end:

AVG Internet Security is introducing "Invisibility Glasses" that is supposed to make you almost invisible to cameras and video-capturing devices.

Is it a good invention? My personal opinion is no. My reasoning is this:

When future "Jihadi Johns" and common criminals discover their usefulness, will the glasses really hide their features enough that LEA/O's can't distinguish who they are?

I understand protection from scammers, phishers, and other low-life's, but is this defeating LEA/O's?

They did say this:
When can I get my own invisibility glasses?

At this stage, invisibility glasses, including those we will be displaying at Pepcom are just a proof of concept .

Rather than designing a product for market release, tech experts are investigating how technology can adapt to combat the daily erosion of our privacy in the digital age. Don’t expect to see them for sale any time soon!
Of course there's always this: If it's invent-able, it's defeat-able.

Out of curiosity, I Googled "IMSI-Catcher"...one site (compare99) came up with mower grass-catchers, bug catchers, pest traps, etc. Another (nextag) came up with flypaper and bathroom remodeling software......duh!

Get your own here.

That reminds me of the joke about the old man and the peacock....

The elderly man was leisurely enjoying a burger at the local fast-food when a young man with multi-colored spiked hair and numerous piercings sat down three tables away from him.

Noticing the older man staring at him, the younger man said sneeringly "Whassa matter old man, you see something you don't like?"

"Oh no; no problem" the older man replied. "You just brought back memories...back when I was a young man, I got drunk and screwed a peacock, and I was just wondering if you could be my son."

I hope they've got the right one!

Man Charged in Couple's Death Linked to (Zeb Quinn's) Missing Persons Case
Owens was a person of interest in the January 2000 disappearance of Asheville teenager Zebb Quinn.
Owens was reportedly the last person to see Quinn before his disappearance. He has denied any involvement in Quinn's disappearance.

Condescending much? If you don't like it, tough.

FYI, I did something you didn't notice. You got a problem with that? It's pretty lame to nit-pick just to draw attention to yourself.
Do you feel any bigger, better, intelligent, and important now than you did at 2:29 pm?

We're aware you're here; you don't have to remind us.

And that tore you completely out of your frame, didn't it, you poor little condescending moron

As usual, nothing but whining when caught pleading for attention.
As usual, nothing but whining when caught pleading for attention; what would Vrede be if he couldn't get attention.
I could give you a few suggestions, ....but.

Oh wow.... you really gotta wonder after this long. There was so much rumor and controversy about that case, I wouldn't know what the truth could be.

The link is dead..... so now we have another case.... of missing link.

That's weird. I've got a sneaky suspicion that WLOS rescinded the story because nothing has been proved yet, and they feared a lawsuit...at any rate, I hope he gets his hinder parts nailed to the wall.

In following this murder story and piecing together tidbits here and there, I've a suspicion that Owens killed this couple and attempted to burn their bodies. A neighbor saw Owens out late at night tending to a large burn on his property; the BCSO says they had "unidentified" human remains sent to Chapel Hill that would lend credence to my suspicions.

Sheriff Duncan will hold a press conference tomorrow (3/20) at 2:00 pm. WLOS will stream the conference live at wlos.com.
I hope they have enough evidence or even a confession that he's involved in the disappearance of Zeb Quinn.

I also suspect that if he is involved, he burned Zeb's body as well. Time will tell.
